TacStar Slimline Sidesaddle Shell Holder

This fits my Mossberg 500 Standoff really well and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the side saddle. I owned another side saddle from a previous build that was a plate secured to the Mossberg 500 with the trigger assembly and bolt guide screw like this one. The major difference was that the saddle part was attached to the plate with 6 tiny screws. Anytime you would need to take it apart, you had 8 screws to deal with. This attaches with just the trigger assembly screw (basically 2 halves that screw into each other) and the bolt guide screw (which secures the saddle with a small nut tightened on the screw). The fully assembled saddle looks great and feels very solid. Definitely worth the purchase price.

Well made slimline 6 shell holder. Fits Mossberg 590 Shockwave with no mods. Only problem is cannot use Voodoo Scabbard with any shell holders attached. Also a distraction for me when holding shotgun. Just something with potential to snag on something in a pinch. Prefer clean sides on shotgun for left or right hold. Great product but I am sticking with my Voodoo Breacher Scabbard which has a 4 shell holder on it. Also attached a 25 round 12GA ammo pouch to Molle straps on Scabbarad. This setup gives me 5 in the Shockwave + 29 slugs on the Scabbard. Much better storing that way for when needed. The SideSaddle would limit me to 5 in the shotgun + 6 for a total of 11, and cannot use a Scabbard. When compared to without SideSaddle for a total of 29 available rounds compared to 11. The Shockwave is better off without ad-ons. I did change out the safety to a ProMag, Talon Grip and the snap on the barrel fiber optic sight.

Bought this for my Mossberg 500. The only down side is the rear screw needs to come out to disassemble and clean. Holds shells firmly in either orientation.

This seemed like a pricy item for the basic function of holding shells but this is totally worth it. It is sturdy, mounts perfectly on a 590 (specifically a shockwave), and holds the shells securely. Don't make a mistake by buying something cheaper because this is what you should get. Mounting hardware fits perfectly, installation instructions were clear. Keep in mind this is all plastic but seems thoroughly durable and, more importantly, doesn't add weight.

Not long enough for 590M Shockwave. Rear hole lines up, front hole does not. Will use velcro and it should hold. Small rubber squares inside keep shells tight but loose enough to remove. Feels good, sleek & slim

Build quality is good, it's nice and solid and was easy to install. Unfortunately successful installation completely blocks my pump from coming over the receiver which I guess is cool if want to muzzle load a shell at a time and defeat the entire point of the gun. I won't be able to mount it backwards without some DIY. Caveat Emptor. This sat on my list for quite some time and must have been appended with this later: "Caution: If you have a field grade forend that extends past the front of your receiver this product will not fit without modification of the forend."

This is my 14th Tacstar side saddle I have bought for my Mossberg shotguns and still have them all and they have all functioned flawlessly weather it be the 2 3/4 shells or the mini shells they stay in the saddle without any worry, during hunts, or drills and training. I absolutely recommend this side saddle over any other brands side saddle

Bought this side saddle expecting it to be made of rubber and very flexible.. came in made of hard plastic all over with rubber inserts to hold the shells. Each shell slot has different tension so some of the shells are tight and some are loose. So I had to put the shells with brass up because I know that if i didn’t some would fall out after first shot. Overall it’s okay to hold extra shells but I plan on replacing it in the near future because of the inconsistency with retention.

Product came with one snap cap, wasn't expecting that...so nice touch. Shells fit perfect, no issues like those mentioned in previous reviews so maybe they fixed that. The sidesaddle and mounting hardware was high quality. Installation was under 10 mins. Very happy with this product and would highly recommend this product. BTW...using on a Mossberg Maverick 88.

Perfect for my mini shotgun

The problem is, the socket holding the dummy round in the package, became slightly larger,and can't hold a shell properly like others

5 minute install, perfect fit on my maverick 88, tight fit on shells but better than the alternative.

Mounted on a Mossberg Maverick 88, shells are easy to remove and install, nice to carry extra shells for target shooting.
