EpsonExpression Home XP-5155 Print/Scan/Copy Wi-Fi Colour Printer, Black

With over 30 years of experience using Epson and other printers connected to my Mac computers I ordered the Epson SP-6100 with full confidence from Amazon. BIG MISTAKE! I wasted many hours over several days trying to set up this machine to print a simple A4 letter. AND TOTALLY FAILED!! In spite of reading the ENGLISH instructions among the 20 other foreign language instructions on a massive sheet of paper and even viewing several on-line video versions of how to set up this machine I totally failed to convince it to print a single A4 letter. Before sending it back I decided to give Epson another chance to live up to their usual high reputation and ordered the same machine from my local John Lewis shop. I had their ( CHEAPER! ) version of the Epson Expression SP 6100 installed in my home computer and printing an A4 letter within 30 minutes! I give their machine 5 STARS in EVERY category! Poor show Amazon! Are you sourcing these printers from suppliers in countries that don't recognise A4 paper as a standard print size therefore they have to be set up differently and with some difficulty, by UK purchasers ? The machine you sent me is sitting still unused in my garage until I give it away free to any friend or relative prepared to have another try at setting it up properly!

The media could not be loaded.  If you like me spend 3 hours pulling out the top paper draw thinking it is the printed paper shelf don’t beat yourself up !!!!! I pulled it out, pushed it in did the f-ing hokey kokey and still it would not print. Today whilst I was calm ( !!!!) I gently put my hand above the upper paper tray snd low & behold there was the tray hidden right at the back. The top flap had never lifted itself up to allow that view.Apart from all that drama ( only 2 weeks worth) it prints really quickly. From my phone & computer over wifi. Very neat. Good value for money AND I can print onto DVDs which is why I bought it. Now I can move on to the rest of my life !!!! 🙄

I have just changed the printer cartridges which came with the printer, these by the way had lasted ages. I have left the following review on the page for the new cartridges."I printed five low resolution jpegs of photographs, the first couple printed fine, the rest had missing or odd coloured lines. I ran the printer test programmes and cleaned the heads. Printed a test sheet which was fine. So tried to print the pictures again at which point the ink ran out in the black cartridge and showed almost empty in all of the others. The cartridges which came with the printer printed hundreds of pages including photographs so do not see why this should have happened unless the cartridges were faulty."I note other reviews where there have also been problems with the ink running out quickly. The printer is not bad for the price but when the ink is almost half the price of the printer and runs out this quickly it is a bit of a false economy.Update!To be fair to the supplier they replaced the cartridges. Whilst waiting for the new ones to be delivered I refitted the old cartridges which came with the printer which were not quite empty. These printed about another 50 pages before they were completely exhausted. Obviously I replaced these with the replacements. After 300 or so pages, a mix of Word documents, PDFs and low resolution JPEGs, the replacements are now empty. That is still only about half of the amount the original (supplied with the printer) cartridges printed. I suspect that the number of pages quoted in the printer blurb relate to simple Word type documents only. Which at the end of the day makes the total costs of this printer an expensive option compared to others at this level if you want to print anything more detailed.

Bought this for home office usagePro:- plug and play- prints for all wifi connected devices i.e. mobile or laptops etc...- SD card and USB plugin feature is great and menu options easy to use-Alexa compatible so things like alexa print my todo list or shopping list works in a jiffy- print speed is good for price- double both sides print works- standy by mode is almost like its turned off but when send to print wakes up in seconds (unlike my previous brother printers)- update firmware on regular basis means product is upto date and secured- fits on a book shelf nice cozy design-scanner is very fast and works with mobile app for scancon:- the only con i can think off is you need to have tray always open to get print done

I can't rate this product on print quality etc because it has hardly been in use since first purchased ! Within a week, a blockage occurred that I had to seek online help to sort. Next, error message saying ink cartridge needed replaced even though it had been barely used. Bought Epson product at some considerable cost. Printer does not recognise and still insists cartridge needs replaced. Online forums suggest this is a common problem and source of much frustration. Will NEVER buy Epson product again.
