A good basic 16 port Gig switch for 16 months
I have a SE3016 switch which is now about 26 months old. it is a good basic 16 port Gigabit switch, but at about 16 months of age it started having some "hung port" issues. The problem seems to randomly affect one of the 16 ports and that port becomes inoperative, yet the port's indicator lights indicate there is still a link. Another week or two goes by and then a second port becomes inoperative, and so on. Unplugging the switch for 10 seconds clears the problem for about a month, then the problem repeats. The problem is easy to detect. When suddenly you can't get anywhere on the Internet, I put in the local IP address of my router (a Linksys LRT 224) - 192.168.0.1. If it responds, then most likely both of my WAN connections are down (sometimes happens). If I can't reach the switch and yet I still have link lights on the computer and the switch, the switch port has hung and it is time to reboot the switch.Cable length is not a factor. There is a 3' cable between the switch and this computer, and this port has hung. Ports connected to runs of about 100' have hung, the port my WAP is connect to has hung, the port to another switch has hung. The port hangs don't seem to have anything in common.ALL of my network gear is plugged into a UPS (I have eight UPS units in my home, with "on battery" times ranging from 25 minutes backup for computers to 10 hours backup for network gear). Thus, no power surges. All power is conditioned.I've asked friends (who also work in IT) and one other with an SE3016 has the same problem. I don't know how widespread the problem is, just that two of us have encountered it. He is going to flash the firmware over his winter holiday vacation and I'll probably try doing the same. Maybe it will fix the problem, maybe it will brick the switch.Despite the problem, I still like the switch, and when all ports are working, it gives great throughput. ... and I've bought a second SE3016.

As advertised
This switch works just as expected. One could argue that 16 ports is a bit misleading as you have to use one of them as the incoming connection port, but maybe that is standard - I'm no switch expert. I was a bit confused on where you plug in the incoming connection from the router, but apparently you can plug it into any of the ports and it detects it which is what the MDI/MDI-X cable dedication is I believe. I've been using MagicJack for years but for some reason it does not work when plugged into the switch - but since I still have 4 ports off the router I pugged it back in there and it works off the router, just not the switch. No idea what that is all about but I'd assume it's a MagicJack issue and not the switch. I'm currently adding additional network jacks to the house and this will grow perfectly with the new jacks I'm adding.

Working exactly as it should!
I purchased this to replace a Trendnet 16-port switch which had failed two times in a few years span. I own a Linksys Router and it works great so I figured I would spend a little more and get the Linksys switch. Smart move so far. It is working great and was very simple to install. There is really nothing to configure since it is unmanaged so it’s just plug in and go.The only negative I found was that it doesn’t come with a bracket to mount it vertical as shown in my photo. The bracket included is meant for a rack style system to mount it horizontal. I used the included bracket and secured them to my mounting board vertically. I then used VHB Double Sided Tape to secure the switch on the back and bottom of both sides. It holds very well and I don’t foresee any issues. I will update this review in case of any failures but so far so good!

Great and high performance switch for home or light commercial use
I've got this setup on a large home network. Management is fairly easy, the web interface allows you to setup most common switch items (QoS, VLAN etc) For less sophisticated networks you can just plug it in and start connecting devices but it is nice to have the functionality in the future. This switch also runs cool by comparison to some other units I've tried. Since mine is in an enclosed space (wiring closet) this has been a plus since the high heat of some units has limited their lifespan considerably. One last point of advice in selecting a switch would be to buy more ports than you think you'll ever need. The cost difference is generally minimal and it is amazing how often you'll find you grow over time and it's far less expensive to get a bigger switch upfront than adding additional switching in the future.

Adorable quality switch
I had a cheap 8 port switch that would slow down to the speed of the slowest peripheral attached. I had an orange light on my router indicating it was not running at gigabit speeds. I purchased this switch to solve the problem and it works great. I had to buy a 90° power cable to make it fit in my junction box but besides that it's great.

Great simple switch with a metal construction -- not plastic. Even comes with rack mounts.
Although the description does not say so, this switch comes with rack mounts so you can mount it in a rack. It is constructed of metal and not plastic so that is another plus. It is small so you can place it on a shelf with other components instead of mounting it in a rack. It measures about 8" across and takes up just 1 U in the rack.

Solid unit, performs as advertised, easy to install and no setup needed!
This is a solid switch and fit into my home rack perfectly. I'm not a geek nor a computer wiz, I bought a house with a full rack system that has all my AV components for the entire house and I'm learning as I go or need. I had "slow" (less than what I was paying for) internet speeds with a gigabit modem and router. I noticed that the original switch was 10/100 and was the bottle neck. My speeds were 70MBPS before and 125MBPS after. This unit is plug and play and comes with everything you need to mount it in a typical rack.I had a 24 port switch, but was only using 14 so I op'd for the 16 port since I'm not planning to expand and figured two spare was sufficient. This also saved me about $50.

Super easy install
This is a fantastic switch for the price, no setup and no measured impact on internet speeds. At the current price 99$ its a good valueedit - unexplained slowdowns happening, like ports are not waking up as they should. changing to 2 stars - may return.edit #2 - Replaced switch perhaps just a faulty unit? This one is performing , any surprises and i will edit.

Matériel déjà en panne
C'est mon deuxième même commutateur que j'ai commandé, l'installation est vraiment facile mais après presque trois semaines d'utilisation, le dernier que j'ai commandé ne voulait plus rien savoir. un achat pas satisfaisant.
