Best value for playing non-US DVD's on US TV's!
I bought the Impecca DVHP9117 DVD player for one purpose: I needed to play British DVD's (Region 2, PAL format European disks) on my US (NTSC) home television. For that purpose this little player is an absolute best buy. It automatically detects and plays both NTSC and PAL format disks, and it can output either NTSC and PAL signals to your TV. (As delivered it defaults to NTSC output, so no setup is needed for US users.) Furthermore, it is a "Region 0" player, which means it can play disks from all over the world even if they are coded for use only in certain areas.I've used my Impecca player for a year now. The Impecca is a small, lightweight box, but the electronics and mechanical internals have outlasted the much more expensive Sony and LG players which preceded it. If you are still concerned about longevity, Amazon offers very inexpensive extended warranty plans.Product support is excellent. After my purchase I asked Impecca's customer service a specific question about the Regional support I mentioned above. The support representative gave me a very honest, "I don't know" reply, but within 24 hours I got an email from one of their engineers answering my question.I agree with other reviews that the remote is both small and oddly configured, which means that I had to put on my reading glasses to use it. But my solution was to rummage through my junk drawer for an old programmable universal remote -- the kind where you point the Impecca remote at the universal remote, then press "learn" on the universal to program the keys. (The "universal" remote was actually from an old, defunct Samsung television.) Once everything was set, the Impecca remote went into the drawer...This is a solid DVD player with some very useful special features at an excellent price. Now, if Impecca will just come out with a Blu-ray version, I'm ready to buy!

Such a relief!
I had to return a prior product because of an ability to get the information I needed to get acceptable usage from the “instruction booklet“ included with the product Or the call that I made to talk to them technical department at the number given in that booklet. I ordered the Impecca DVD player to replace the returned item and was extremely pleased with the thorough instruction booklet, and the outstanding performance of the DVD player and ease of connection. I was also extremely pleased with Amazon, and how quickly they took care of my return, and issuing my credit. The customer service representative at Amazon was polite, caring, and knowledgeable. Altogether, this whole experience was a real relief.

INITIAL REVIEW
This is an initial review as I only just received this DVD player today. A whole day early! Let me say that it's the perfect size as this is for a bedroom so space is limited & I didn't want something that would attract the eye. I connected the HDMI (not included). The HDMI does not play all DVDs. The included AV jacks are cheap looking & feeling. In fact, I haven't seen any that thin before. They put me in mind of buying them at the dollar store for $1. Thankfully I have both an HDMI & AV jack from previous cable set ups that work well with this DVD player. With the AV jack I was able to play the DVD that wouldn't play with the HDMI. Picture quality seemed ok but if it's not fading to black & white or obviously fuzzy I'm ok. The DVD player was sturdy. I didn't have to hold it down to insert or remove a DVD. I wish I knew why I couldn't play all DVDs with the HDMI as I'd really like to eliminate some of the cords running from TVs. I'll add an updated review after I've watched a couple of DVDs. This got four stars from me because not all the DVDs play with the HDMI & the included AV jacks were cheap. Oh, I didn't use the remote for this review but will when I watch the DVDs later. As for the cost it was within my price range. I paid a little more than the $25 I wanted to spend because I wanted the HDMI capability. Had I known that it wouldn't play all DVDs I think I would have just purchased the standard DVD player. I'm posting this initial review in the event that someone else is wondering the same things.

One of the best purchases I’ve made on Amazon thus far.
I used to think I didn’t need a DVD player since I have a PS3 and a PS4. However, when moved out of a studio apartment and into larger homes I realised I needed one. As so I could have the luxury of playing video games in my own bedroom and watch movies in the living room where the couch is at. It has been great also not having to be taking food into my room every time I want to eat dinner while watching a movie or pause my game when my roommates come home.I personally use an HDMI cable to connect it to the tv. Which is in my opinion the best way to do it. Picture quality also relies on the tv and the DVD/movies cinematographic quality. Low budget films obviously aren’t going to have the best picture quality no matter how hard you try.I really recommend getting a DVD player to anyone and everyone. DVDs are cheap and hard copies so they can’t be taken from you. They are still making them and make for great cheap dates.

Complete garbage
Terrible. The only button on the player and remote that works is the eject button. Would not play disc or show a menu on the screen. Once turned off, could only get it to turn on again by unplugging the device and plugging it back in again. Very cheap garbage. Will look for something more reliable.
