What are the gradations on this square?

One side is cm and 32nds. The other 16ths and 8ths

On the video she says that the notch has to always be on one side, but it is somewhat incorrect! She could flip the handle by turning the knob.

Aughhhh! That's ME on the video, and you're right, you could technically flip the notch and it would work the same way, provided you also flipped the rule since the notch can only fit in the channel and the channel is only on one side of the rule.
