Not really “ultimate beginner guide”

magazines and forums go into more depth than than this a book. Not really detailed on In’s or outs of cura or set up and issues you could have with printing 3d items and how to resolve them. Sent It back as very disappointed. Definitely not ultimate beginner guide

It has potential, but needs work to make a better booklet

This 56-page booklet has some things that are good and some that are not so good. The introduction is fine and clearly explains what 3-D printing is about and how to get started with CR-10 series. The chapter on trouble shooting is excellent and probably worth the price of the booklet. Not good is the middle section which wanders and is discursive. It would benefit from expansion and the kindly ministrations of a good editor. The color figures are poor because they are blurred and the legends along the right side of the figures are not readable. The X, Y, and Z axes should be clearly marked. Not good is the use of abbreviations without telling what they stand for. I know PLA is poly lactic acid and ABS is acrylonitrile butadiene styrene. But the average reader would be in the dark. That ABS bothers me because fumes from it are toxic. Anyone using it as the material needs to be careful and the area has to be well ventilated. What is PLA+ and is it as safe as PLA? How about PETG and TPE, or TPU? We are told TPE and TPU are flexible plastics but we never learn what they are chemically. This booklet needs work to become a good introduction to FDM (fused deposition modeling). Let’s have a better second edition.
