Awesome features, a bit bulky - Worth the compromise? It depends!
I had been kicking around the idea of ordering one of the new Mophie Juice Pack Air cases for my regular size iPhone 7 but wasn't sure I wanted to haul around the extra weight/bulk. The only thing I really miss from my Android phone is wireless charging. After some discussion with a friend and Mophie fan, I decided to give it a whirl. Only a couple days in, but here are my impressions. Size I have been carrying my iPhone 7 in a Spigen Neo Hybrid case for the most part, which is super slim and trim. The Mophie is quite bulky in comparison. The battery adds a chunk of weight as well. The width of the case across the screen isn't particularly big, and the upper bezel is slim as well. The bottom part of the case is longer to house the lightning connector and since it's closed off there are ports to route the lower mic/speaker sound out the front. This actually seems to work quite well and my phone seems "louder" as a result. The case has nicely rounded back edges, but that makes it very comfortable in hand. It also makes it difficult to measure the thickness! I figure it's around 16mm thick at the thickest part. In comparison, an Otterbox on an iPhone 7 is 15mm, with no battery or wireless charging. Normally that would be way too thick for me personally, but given the features it's not a bad tradeoff. Overall length-wise, the Mophie seems long due to the space at the bottom for sound channel routing and internal connector, but it's basically the same length as the Otterbox case. The edges of the case on the sides are slightly higher than the screen, but flare up at the ends of the case to offer screen "standoff" when the case is placed face-down. I measure 1.25mm of standoff at the ends of the case, so plenty of room for a glass screen protector and still maintaining a small amount of standoff. Some numbers, for those who enjoy such things: 150.1 mm - Length 70.4 mm - Width 15.8 mm - Thickness (at the middle) 241.6 g - Weight (with phone installed) 97.2 g - Weight (case only) 144.4 g - Weight (my iPhone 7) Handling The phone feels quite good in hand with the Mophie. The case itself has a soft-touch feel. It does seem to pick up fingerprints easily and there isn't any grip texturing, so while I haven't juggled it yet, I would call it "medium" for grip in the hand. The thickness and radius of the rear edges makes it very comfortable to hold. The buttons have excellent tactile feel. I have no issues reaching the mute switch on the side, it's got a nice cutout. As noted above, the case does add notable weight to the phone. Carrying it in a coat chest pocket, I notice the weight difference. Connectivity The case has no external lightning connector, only a micro USB for wired charging. For some, this is a deal-breaker. For me, it's a non-issue so far. I rarely plug my phone into my Mac to sync, I just let it sync wirelessly and that works fine. I didn't often use the lightning-to-headphone adapter, I use bluetooth. The wireless charging functionality is excellent. I did not spend the $ for Mophie-branded charging pads, I simply use cheapo Qi charging bases and they both work perfectly, so long as they are powered by good power supplies. I have a flat $9 charging pad at home on the nightstand and a $20 upright "stand" charging base on my desk at work. I've also tested the wireless charging ability on a number of vehicles that offer built in Qi-compatible charging pads and they have all worked nicely as well. As I said, wireless charging is something I really miss from my modern Android phones and it's super slick to have that ability. The system is set such that it charges the phone's internal battery first, and then charges the case. Overall I think the Mophie with wireless is a very nice piece of kit. I can typically get through a workday and evening at home (non-travel) on the built-in battery. If I am on my phone a bunch for work, or have significant WebEx or other on-phone work, I typically plug into a charger when in the car and that gets me to the end of the day, sometimes just barely. The Mophie for iPhone 7 has a 2525 mAh battery, in addition to the built-in iPhone 7 battery of 1960 mAh. That's a full additional charge, plus a bit. I haven't run both into the ground just yet, but may do so this weekend. Conclusion Honestly, I'm in a bit of a quandary with this case. It does everything it's supposed to, and does it well. And I absolutely understand the thickness/weight, it's a matter of physics when you include an additional battery that more than doubles the capacity of the phone itself. I think for work or personal travel or time away on vacation, I'd run this case without hesitation as I tend to burn far more battery power in those situations than I do on a typical work day. My conclusion for the moment is that I'll probably keep the case and put my phone in it for vacation or travel use. But I'm not sure I am willing to lose the super-svelte profile of my iPhone 7 for typical every day use. The wireless charging convenience IMHO may be enough to cause me to keep this case on the phone full-time, but it's a little bit strange: with wireless charging, my phone is often times sitting on a charging pad - which usually alleviates my need for the extra capacity. It's a serious case of "first world problems." I would not hesitate to recommend this case based on my short experience so far, and caution only those who are really hung up about the size (specifically the thickness) of their phone that they may not dig it. For those who don't care so much about the size or additional weight, the combination of super battery capacity and wireless charging convenience are a no-brainer and well worth the price of admission. I purchased this case with my own $, it was not a "review unit."

solid upgrade to old iPhone 7's weak battery
Needed battery case for old iPhone 7 when i lost my 13 Pro, using it as a replacement until i get new phone again. Extends life of really weak, old battery and makes 7 useable all day long like when i first got it, able to get full recharge on the fly anywhere and have enough life to get home and recharge, wireless or with included cable. Pros - Mophie very reliable battery accessory brand for Apple products - fits iPhone 7 like a glove, no bad seams or loose top - easy to slide in phone to usb plug in case and close - smooth matte finish, felt interior, no battery hump (black looks great) - protects front screen if lying face down (face wont touch surface) with slightly raised edge ends - recharges on flat wireless pad (Belkin 3-in-1 Charger Stand for iPhone 12/13) - recharges phone completely within 30-60 min from case battery - priority given first to recharge phone before the backup case battery - case battery recharges on both wireless pad and usb mini cable provided - connects/accesses computer with with mini usb cable - covered vents to let sound out of phone speakers, sounds a bit louder - full access to home button/finger ID - low profile button to start case recharge of phone near bottom of case back - press button to check case battery, hold to start/stop charging - very bright power indicator lights, turns off automatically after a few seconds - button can stop recharge, restart charging; can check back battery status while charging - case capable to recharge from zero, will recharge completely 100% - able to take photos with case cutaways around camera, perfectly aligned - volume, power and silent switch on case work exactly like phone buttons, switches - able to use phone while recharging, doesnt interfere with wifi, phone functions, music, apps Cons - usb lightning recharge will not plug in to case, need to remove from case to use lightning - takes hours to recharge phone/battery completely on wireless pad or usb mini cable - only provided usb mini charger will work - other usb wires fit but dont recharge phone, case battery - need to remove/unplug phone from case to recharge case battery immediately if phone not recharged all the way - when phone reaches 90% during wireless/cord recharge takes long time to get to 100% in order to start recharging case battery - phone alerts (screen turns on) sporadically on wireless pad charger (often between 90-100% phone recharge) - case gets a little warm during recharge - once phone fully recharged form case, battery case will be completely drained - battery case doubles thickness of phone, increases vertical length more than horizontal - not magsafe compatible (not magnetic attach but will recharge on pad if you hold it in place) - price a little steep ($85) for such an old model iPhone case Overall, amazing phone chase that modernizes iPhone 7 for wireless pad charging and breathes new life for weak battery. Responsive feedback from recharge button, strong rugged case that protects all corners, face of phone while offers access to all phone buttons and functions except lightning port. A bit quirky during recharge and price a bit much but wireless charging makes it worthwhile - a great amenity and wonderful option to recharge phone and battery. Solid upgrade for both case and phone battery.

Well made, comfortable, not quite permanent solution.
This is my third Mophie Juice Pack. They are well built but like all spare batteries, they don't last forever. I expect this to last a few years before the battery will no longer fully charge. At that point, I'll probably change my phone. That being said, I have tried other, cheaper brands and so far those are much worse - one crapped out after about 6 weeks (would not charge), the second one lasted about 6 months (the internal connector failed). This one is easy to use and will accept wireless charging. The case itself is comfortable with a soft-touch exterior that is remarkably un-slippery (is that even a word?)...My only quibble is that the cord is a mini-USB, not a USB-C so I have to carry yet another unique charging cord.

Very useful charger and phone protection case
I purchased this in the past, years ago for different phone and this brand works the best. I had purchased others a cheaper versions and had always issues with charging (cable didn’t stay/got loose in the phone, which didn’t charge the phone). I went back to this brand because is more reliable (plugs in tightly and charges without interruptions) also it is easier to put your phone into the charger case. The case is a little more bulky and heavier but I don’t mind, I think it is more a positive feature for me since it will protect my phone better if I drop it (which happened on multiple occasions in the past and phone stayed intact)

Ouch! It did not work
UPDATE - The saga continues. Mophie customer service was very nice and sent me a replacement battery case. It worked for a very short time and then would not charge my iPhone. So Mophie sent me another replacement and it would not charge my iPhone from the start. I thought that maybe I have a defective iPhone, so I tried it on my wife’s iPhone 8 and the battery case did not work. I have given up on Mophie and will try another battery case that is not wireless. Before you purchase a Mophie wireless battery case in the future, pay close attention to the Amazon reviews. About 25-35% of the reviews for the Mophie thst I purchased were not positive, and many described the problem that I encountered. I gambled and lost. ********************************* After about two (2) months of usage, the mophie stopped charging my iPhone. I have contacted Mophie customer support and will update this review again based on the resolution to the current issue. PrevIous update - I have used the Mophie for almost a month now and have found a major flaw. The case fits too tight on my iPhone 7 making it nearly impossible to remove. My wife has an iPhone 8 and I wanted to see if the Mophie would fit her phone so I could get her one for Christmas. But I could not remove my iPhone 7 from the Mophie case, so my wife gets something else for Christmas and Mophie loses a sale. The battery case works ok on my phone, so I have only downgraded the rating from a 5 to a 3. I have used Mophie battery cases for years. But when I purchased my iPhone 7 in early 2017, I decided not to add a Mophie case because the iPhone’s battery life had been improved. Here is my experience: On an ordinary day, not a problem. I could use the phone much of the day without charging. But I found myself charging it in the late afternoon or when I got home in the evening. When traveling it was a problem. I have a portable Mohpie battery pack and often found myself recharging while waiting for a flight at the airport. This was not an optimum situation since charging while traveling is awkward at best. So I finally broke down and bought a Mophie battery case for my iPhone 7. I couldn’t be happier! Now I only have to charge the phone at night and travel is no longer an issue. The battery case fits well and is as functional as always. I recommend the Mophie battery case for the iPhone 7. (Note: My wife has an iPhone 8 and we have heard that the Mophie iPhone 7 case will work on it. We have not tried it yet, but I will update this review when we do.)

Never run out of battery
I've seen some issues reported in other reviews. it doesn't work seems to be the most common one. I now own 3 of these cases. One for my phone and one for both sons. NARY a complaint. Charging the phone from the case works pretty well. Example: just yesterday I went to my dad's house to do some yard work for him. forgot my charging cable. Phone on 67%. Normally I would have gone to the nearest store and purchased something to charge my phone with because I CAN'T HAVE MY PHONE UNDER 90%!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then I remembered I have a battery case. I press the magic juice producing button and voila! My phone charged while I did yard work. Drove home and happened to notice my phone was at 98%. That's more like it. Is there a learning curve? Maybe a smallish one. The mini USB port is what you need to charge the phone and the case at the same time. I go all day and my battery case is down to either 50 or 25 %. Really don't care about that at the end of the day because I can charge it fully at night. If there is heavy usage on the phone, there will be subsequent heavy usage on the battery case. Stick it on the charger and all is good. I thought I was going to have to abandon the magnetic mount in my car. Nope, it sticks. I also use 3 different wireless charging devices with this and no problem. I use a cheap one I got at a local box storemart. I also have two better ones. I was concerned they would't work but it works just fine. (Whole 'nother story using wireless charging pads - make sure you have sufficient power going to them! Read the instructions.) If you want to plug in earbuds/headphones, you will need to forget that idea. You need to have Bluetooth now. Car play doesn't work with the USB plug (on my two Nissans) in the USB port. Bluetooth does however. IF I have to use car play, I take it out of the case and use a lightning cable. I have no complaints at all. I would recommend this to my friends and enemies alike. I think everyone should have their phone charged! I even ordered one for my boss because of our conversation the other day where he said he noticed I NEVER have my phone on the charger and he always does. I told him that in fact, i ALWAYS have my phone on the charger and explained it to him. He held it and said, that's a nice case, order me one. Done. My boys love this case and I'm going to use this until it quits on me. Never underestimate the power of a fully charged phone.

Wireless charging for the iPhone 7
This is a wonderful case. It is thin, has a perfect fit, provides some extra battery life and best of all, wireless charging. You simply place the case on a charging base (not included, see complaint below) and it will start charging. In my opinion, Apple should have built in wireless charging into the iPhone by now, but until it does, a case like this is a must. A few points to keep in mind: - The case will charge itself and your iPhone either wirelessly or via a micro USB cable. - Wireless charging is for charging only, it will not pass data. If the micro USB cable is connected from your computer to a charging base, your iPhone will charge, but you will not be able to sync with iTunes. To sync with iTunes, you would need to connect the micro USB cable directly to the case. This is not a problem for me as it has been years since I have needed to sync my iPhone with iTunes. - The case has a micro USB port so you will not be able to plug in your lightning port headphones that came with the iPhone 7. This is not a problem for me as I always use bluetooth headphones. After purchasing my iPhone a few months back, I still have not used the included headphones. One complaint. No Charge Force Wireless Charging Base is included. When I bought the 6S case, it came with a charging base so when I bought this one, I assumed the same. But no, it is just the case. It would be easy to assume that it is simply a battery case. But the best part of this case is its wireless charging capability. And as of this writing, I can’t find the standard base for purchase here. I can find the car vent mount and the desk mount, but not the standard base that came with the 6S case (it is on Mophie’s web site). The bottom line, make sure you get some Charge Force wireless charging bases/mounts. I highly recommend this case to give your iPhone wireless charging.

Great Product
Excellent Product, keeps the battery of my phone charged all day. My phones battery is always still at 100 by the end of the day even with working on my phone and taking calls all day long. Slim enough to fit into a hip holster, really enjoy the wireless charging feature, which my phone would not have otherwise.
