First and foremost: I did not use the app/software/firmware which shipped with the device. This is a review for fellow hardware hackers, with an experienced understanding. I'm a DIY, soldering and flashing sort of guy, the review is PURELY from this standpoint. I don't trust random apps, and you shouldn't either.What it IS NOT: It IS NOT connected to the PCIE bus for anything except Standby Power and Power-On Detection via monitoring your motherboard's 3.3v rail. There is NO data connection to the motherboard. It cannot do -ANYTHING- to/with your PC except play with the power button.What it IS: It IS an ESP8285 and a secondary microcontroller. It connects to your Wifi, and nobody but the authors knows what it does. It allows the user's default Power switch to continue to operate, and cannot interrupt the user's power switch control. (The two power switch connectors on the PCB are tied directly together. The MCU does not "stand between and relay" the signal.)I soldered a four-pin header to the "ESP8285 Download" connector and re-flashed it with Tasmota using the standard tasmota.bin and no modifications. Typical Wi-Fi setup followed.GPIO12 is the Power Control output, configured as "Relay 1" in Tasmota.GPIO13 is the Wifi link LED, configured as "LedLink_i" in Tasmota.Tasmota's Template string; {"NAME":"Power Control","GPIO":[0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,224,576,0,0,0,0],"FLAG":0,"BASE":18}When the unit believes your PC is powered on, a red LED blinks. Constantly. Cover it.When the unit is toggling the power switch, a very bright green LED toggles momentarily.The blue link LED can be controlled via Tasmota.There's a small red LED which indicates that the board is receiving standby power and is operational.When the card believes the PC is off, and GPIO12 transitions low-to-high, the card momentarily connects the Power Switch pins. A high-to-low transition at this time will do nothing.When the card believes the PC is on, and GPIO12 transitions high-to-low, the card momentarily connects the Power Switch pins. A low-to-high transition at this time will do nothing.The primary controller is an ESP8285, which is an improved ESP8266 which will (should) run any ESP8266 custom firmware.The secondary MCU is unknown to me and resists identification, but only seems to connect (usefully) to the ESP via one pin. I don't believe it has the capacity to contain or act on any nefarious code. It handles the power control logic, control output, LED flashing timing, input detection, etc.Can we trust that its shipped ESP8285 firmware isn't nefarious? Maybe, but I'd rather have cloud-less local-only fully-trusted software running, even if it is "just" a WIFI microprocessor with no other access.

Investigando por la Web llegué a esta solución para encender una computadora que no tiene la opción de Wake On Lan. Y como acceso remoto a algunas aplicaciones estando afuera no siempre deseo mantener en encendido la computadora. Con esta tarjeta me solucionó lo que estaba en búsqueda. Solo se descarga la APp de Ewelink , instale con los pasos que me marca el pequeño manual y lo asocie. La magia funcionó. Solo que se debe de tener conocimientos básicos de servicio de PC o que lo apoyen por una persona con conocimientos para la conexión. Saludos y la recomiendo.

Easy to install and so useful for my usage, it’s only problem it doesn’t work on 5GHz WiFi.

Mechanical installation is straightforward if you’ve ever built your own PC or done any mods. Just be sure you have a suitable PCIE slot that’s accessible.Setup might be a little tricky. My first board failed to link so many times I nearly returned it. Each attempt would halt with a message that I could not connect with 5GHz WiFi, even though I’d set my phone to 2.4GHz only.Ever have a spouse ask you, “Why do you want to keep that old thing?” My old phone is 2.4GHz only and I feel vindicated since it works for this task.This installation, the first attempt to link failed so I turned on bluetooth and set the phone inches from the board’s antenna. Was the BT necessary? I don’t know, but the connection took only seconds. Now I can have Alexa boot the PC while I'm getting my morning dose of caffeine ready.
