I'd been using the slim version since I got the vive and didn't even know it. Huge improvement.
My vive's nose rest finally started tearing after years of use, and I got this set as a replacement. Didn't realize the vive was preinstalled with the slim. The wide completely blocks all the light from outside the headset, unlike the slim.Huge upgrade.

Can confirm fits 1st Gen.,1st release HTC Vive
I can also confirm that it does fit first gen.,1st release HTC Vive. Some people on-line are reporting that when the nose piece breaks, the hard plastic portion of the nose piece will remain locked in place and accidentally tare away from the soft rubber when removed. You must make sure this hard plastic piece is removed before placing the new one or it will not lock in place (note: if this hard piece is there, the patterns on the new nose piece will not match). Also, do no press in the center to lock into place as it will not stick. If you look on the attaching side of the new nose piece, you will see 2 small/thin tabs on the edges (not the 2 center tabs, but the edges). Align one of these tabs with the corresponding groove on the Vive and slip into place. Next, slight pinch the nose piece while making sure the tab you just placed stays in the grove. With you other hand, slide inside the nose piece as if you are smoothing it out while also paying attention to the tab on the opposite side and making sure it goes into place. You should feel it lock into place. It it tricky and took me several tries, but it will eventually lock into place. Hope these clear as mud instruction help.

Difficult to install, but worth it.
The only downfall is there are not instructions on how to install these. They are VERY difficult to pop into the slots and require quite a bit of force. I had to google/reddit how to get them in. Once they are in, they are great. I used to be able to see out of my Vive when I looked down (just a little) but they cover up and completely black out any outside light, assisting to the VR experience. Worth getting.

It's the real thing, comes in a tiny light blue and black Vive box style just like the headset box.
I bought my Vive a couple months after it officially released. I only had one nose rest , and it was this Narrow size, now I have three to last me quite a long while, most likely for the rest of its life until I upgrade to a newer VR. The rubber decayed on the old one to the point that it tore off without even trying to, which is why I bought these.Do not wait for the product to come back in stock, when it has a restock date order it right away. Mine arrived several weeks earlier than it originally predicted, so the wait wasn't long.I made sure that the old nose rest was completely removed and not blocking the new one... I was mistaken on its orientation at first, I thought having the flaps cover the lens partially was the wrong way, so I was trying to put it on 180 degrees the wrong way. I rechecked everything, noticed my mistake, rotated it and it went in so easily that I thought I did it wrong, but a slight tug showed that it was not sliding off, so it was clear it was now in place.

It's like it was produced by a third party
It's like it was produced by a third party, the fit was off on all 4 pads. None of them snapped in to place like the original pad out of the box and would all fall off.

To finally help the people who didnt know. THIS DOES NOT FIT ON THE VIVE PRO.
When I was looking for a replacement for my vive pro, I had seen mixed saying on this. Some say it works, some say it doesn't. So I finally went for it and I can confirm. This does not fit my vive pro or anything other then the original vive. If you are looking to get a replacement for the vive pro. Either contact HTC or glue on the original ones, that's what I did.

Not for the Rift...
I saw a review that stated that this thing fits quite naturally into the Rift headset - I'm now wondering if they had one of the developer versions that came out before the consumer version. This nose rest can slide into the space where your nose goes, but once there it doesn't really do anything - usually it will actually get pushed further up into the headset where it absolutely does no good. However, even if it doesn't get pushed up, it still does nothing - you will still get fogged lenses and you won't really get any benefit from having it there from a comfort standpoint. Why is this you may ask, well the nasal space on the headset actually doesn't conform to a persons actual nose and this thing squishes into that space almost perfectly. This means that it basically matches what is already there and if what is there didn't work for you, well, guess what - neither will this.It isn't even a good option if you were worried about nose oil getting in the headset because as mentioned, it usually gets pushed further up into the headset. However, because it also fits so snugly into the nasal cavity on the headset, the foam liner around your nose isn't fully covered by it.Now, this thing may well fit the Vive perfectly, but since I don't have one of those I can't really say. For the Rift however, it is a wast of money - just get a small cloth of some kind, fold it up a few times, lay it across your nose, and put on the headset. Will be more comfortable and do a better job of blocking nose oil and fogging.

Narrow is the same size as the default nose piece
I bought the narrow nose piece thinking that it would be smaller than the default nose piece that comes with the vive. I have a petite little nose and a very tiny face, so I often have a hard time getting the vive to fit right on my child size head. FYI - the narrow nose piece is the same size as the nose piece that ships with the vive.I found myself with three extra nose pieces that I didn't really need, so I ended up experimenting with them to see if I could find any ways to make the vive fit my petite face better. The answer- cut off the ends of the nose piece. If you are looking for a replacement for the default nose piece, you should order the narrow. They are exactly the same.
