Amazing scope!
I got this scope 4 months ago. Since it first came out. I used to own the older model too. Sold it and got this one. And here are my honest thoughts about the new model compare to the old model. They are both sharp, amazing glass. I honestly can't see a difference in clarity between new model and old model. New model is for sure better looking. And I feel like it's more rugged ( I say I "feel" because I haven't actually drop them to find out ) The slim shape of new model makes it easy to handle, pack, and I can grab it with one hand better since it has the focus wheel around the body. I didn't like the fact the old one had two focus wheels. Always ended up using the fine focus anyways. I also like the green color better. Looks a lot likely the Swarovski. I was also able to use the same black cordura nylon fitted case they sale separately for the old model for 50$ On this new model. Since the case they give u with both are just crap, and don't want the body to get scratches. I've used it for wildlife viewing have watch from elk at dawn, chipmunks, squirrels, eagles, hummingbirds etc, the details are amazing....The hood really works nicely when sun it's out and bright. (With both scopes, the experience was the same) When i got the new model the eye cup was super loose. I don't wear glasses so really need the cup all the way up. So I sent it to vortex and they took care of it. And send it back to me within 2 weeks. I didn't even pay to send it. They sent me a prepaid label. Bottom line. If u don't care about the color, the two wheels that take some extra room, the fact that the new one is made in japan and assemble in the US and old one made in China, and want to save like 400-500 bucks, buy the old model for sure!! You will see your game with the same clarity. They will also weight about the same so no big change. Also I got a manfrotto aluminum tripod with a pistol grip head. I find the pistol grip to be the best. Takes less room and it's faster to move.

Vortex Raor HD
Very nice scope and an especially great price. I was going back and forth between this and the equivalent Swarovski I ended up going for this which after a sale price was about 1/3 of the Swarovski, and am quite happy with it. Good brightness and clarity.

Perfect for PRS!
Clear glass! I've attached the 22x MRAD Ranging Reticle to be able to MIL targets at PRS matches and this really helps when making wind calls and understanding how many MILs wide the target is before you get on clock.

Heavy but very clear.
Great clarity and easy focus. Finding the sweet spot for eye relief is a little tricky. This is a heavy scope so don’t plan to pack it for miles in a backpack.

Value and performance is this models sweet spot.
Vortex optics service and warranty dept is un paralleled in the industry. This scope is knocking at the door of units twice its price, its light, and almost in the compact category. It's become a member of my daily driver kit, and I can't find a thing its not doing well, and mostly even great. I'll put it up next to (literally) any scope out there.

A well-built Spotting Scope, but mine might have been defective.
Nice wide, flat field of view, good colour correction, image stays in focus throughout the whole 27-60x zoom range. Excellent build quality with decent eye relief - easily useable while wearing glasses. I returned mine. I have its less expensive little brother, the Diamondback HD 20-60x85. In a direct comparison, aside from the colour fringing in the Diamondback (a blue tinge around things that are slightly out of focus), the Diamondback had better definition and contrast, and showed finer detail at all distances and magnifications than the Razor did. For example, the writing on a bag of gardening soil about 1000 feet away was easily discernable in the Diamondback, but was difficult to read in the Razor. Same results looking at a 20$ bill at 40 feet. As mentioned earlier, the Diamondback shows quite a bit of colour fringing on bright objects that are slightly out of focus while the Razor does not. A Tele Vue 85 astronomical telescope showed better detail and contrast than both spotting scopes while looking at the same objects, but since it has fewer optical elements and also cost more than both scopes combined, it really isn’t a fair comparison. Either I happen to have an excellent Diamondback, or the Razor I received was defective. I would be tempted to purchase another Razor to see how it compares, but I’ll just stick with the Diamondback for now.
