This subject is challenge: This book did a great job with it.
The "Contents at a Glance" are very helpful. The chapter titles and layout work well. I learned a lot from the book. I think the books ability to see the parts of the whole problem are well done and valuable. I also think that I look at my own work and the book has helped me see the parts of the whole but it hasn't shown me yet (it might I guess with enough re reading) if I have found all the part that neeed looking closer at.

Too much writing; lacks examples
I expected many clear html wep page examples. It is too much boring reading and little get to the point. Small print in the examples and other unnecessary graphics. 743 pages bound together makes it uncomfortable to read. I need a "keep it simple" book that provides clear examples and goes right to the point.

A Book-Long Ad for the Author’s Tools
First, why is the author discussing Google+ in this latest edition of SEO? This was published in 2022 but Google+ disappeared in 2019. I started reading this book because the other SEO book for Dummies (published before this one) was also discussing Google+ after it had disappeared. This hurts the believability of the author. Secondly, from the beginning of the book, the author recommends all kinds of SEO-services—from keyword search tools to page analyzers and other things that I’m still learning about—from a company named “Bruce Clay.” I was three books in before I realized the author’s name is Bruce Clay … Well I’ll be doggone! I don’t mind self-promotion as long as it’s fair and honest. One time the author says he’s recommending his company because he knows it does what you need it to do. You know, implying other SEO services don’t offer these SEO tools. Somewhere else, after promoting his company about 30 times, he writes, “At the risk of sounding self-promotional, the monitor available with our subscription SEOToolSet ….” That’s not a risk anymore, that’s a choice.
