Excellent book. The core content of the book is a very restricted subject though, and so the author does a fabulous job of providing anecdotes, scientific research, and plenty of analysis. This ensures that the book is almost the perfect size for its content matter. It's an enjoyable read, and if you pay enough attention, you might gain a few useful insights on how to make your own life better! Highly recommended.

Throughout my life, I have never been really good at anything. Then, I started programming and really enjoyed. But, even though I've been programming for a few years, I felt like I've been stuck at the same skill level. This book has given a reason for why I felt this way and how to fix it. This book has helped been not feel self conscious around people who are clearly more talented and smarter than me. Now, all I have to do is work harder and dedicated part of my time to improving my craft. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to be in the top of their craft and especially to adults who have felt like it's too late to start learning a new skill or craft.

My 29-year-old son highly recommended this book...and it was mind-blowing for me. Not sure if it was the timing--because actually I was already familiar with the general concepts of what makes for experts--but I was able to connect it to so many different aspects of my life. It motivated me to come up with 3 new classes using "deliberate practice" (I'm a university lector), it inspired me to start running up the stairs at work, and I was able to connect the content to so many points both in the Read-Aloud Handbook I was reading simultaneously and to my husband's polyneuropathy. As someone who almost majored in psychobiology, I loved the emphasis on the role of myelin in learning. Highly recommend the book for teachers and for anyone wanting to get better in anything.
