Easy to install and works well - but product documentation could be improved

I was able to install this in my desktop with no problems and all of the ports work fine. I'm happy with the purchase and would recommend this for someone with the larger 5.25 bay available on their desktop. However, there are a few items that should have been listed in the product description:- The card slots are only USB 2.0. This fact is listed if you look at the product pictures, but is not described on the product page. I was a bit disappointed with this but since all the ports work fine I'm going to keep the hub.- There is a molex power connection on the hub so you want to make sure you have an extra molex power connection available.

Seems to work fine so far

The good, it reads my memory cards pretty well so I can do the things I need to. I have a DSLR camera as well as have been recording a lot of video using an off brand type GoPro and transferring videos is a pain if I have to switch the card into my tablet. The bad, it's kinda flimsy and it shifts around in the bay I have it in. My computer bay's are screwless and it just does not really lock into place well. I may end up needing to put screws in so it is a little more secure. And honestly I wish that the card reader was also USB 3.0 so that I could read from the cards at full speed which is about 100 MB/s vs the 45 MB/s I am getting. When you have 64GB cards it makes a big difference when transferring a lot of stuff. My current case does not have 3.5inch bays and by the time I buy a piece of plastic to convert from 3.5 to 5.25 I have spent as much as buying this reader so I figured why not. I have never used E-SATA so didn't plug that cable in anyway and honestly would have rather just had it left off. The USB 3.0 ports being added is a good bonus though.

Cheaply made and does not work

In summary, I have to echo the complaints made by other reviewers:1) Cheaply made2) Poorly designed3) Does not work wellTo be specific, the unit cheapness of the unit can be seen in several areas. First off, as others have said, the attachment screws are cheap wood screws not machine threads and screw into smooth plastic holes, cutting the threads into the plastic holes as you screw. CAREFUL NOT TO OVERTIGHTEN as you will strip the plastic out.Second the circuit boards are fully exposed. Better made units enclose the circuit boards in a metal case with shield them from EMF interference and protect them. Saves them a few bucks = cheaply made.Third, the USB 3 cable coming out of the unit is way to short to reach anything inside a tower case - which is the type of case you would have with a 5.25 inch front panel accessory. So I had to buy an extension cable. But beyond that, the cable connector is a cheap piece of S**T and you can't tell if it is snugged properly into it's mate. Bad design... and CHEAP.Now, this I knew in advance and should have realized, but the card reader slots are on USB 2.0 and are Soooo SLOOOW. It was about 1/4 the speed I got with an external USB card reader I was trying to replace. So that's on me. But still, WTF? Why not have all slots go on USB 3? (The replacement I got did have card slots on USB 3).Finally, the icing on the cake was the damn thing didn't work consistently. Sometimes it would work fine and others it would lose the drive in the middle of copying a file.I know that it's hard to find a 5.25" card reader with USB 3.0. What I ended up doing was getting the 3.5" model from StarTech (35FCREADBU3) and a $5 adapter (BRACKETFDBK) to fit it in the 5.25" bay. Solid build and works like a champ at full USB 3.0 speeds across the board.Cheers!

Its decent but could be a lot better

I have had this for about 2 years before writing a review. Overall it dose a decent job, I don't need lighting fast speeds when I am just transferring data over to my phone and back, or plugging in a controller. What I really wanted this for was the TF card slot because I do a lot of 3d printing. My biggest gripe is that the plastic is not 100% flush to the port so there has been multiple times where I go to insert the card at a weird angle and it dose not go into the port but falls into the hub itself and I have to find a way to fish out my card. That annoyance alone would had gotten this a 4 star but where it loses another star is that the TF port seems to be really iffy. Some day I can slot in cards just fine and it reads, other day I have to fiddle with the port to make it work and other days it just dose not read. I say this is nice, but I feel like the only reason this has so many positive reviews is because they are basically the only one on the market. Its reaching a point where I think I'll just get a type C hub and find something else for the front bay drive.

Works really well to add fast USB ports and a memory card reader to the front case

The Kingwin Powered USB Hub works really well for me. I added it to my extra expansion slot on the front of my case and plugged in the three connectors -- a USB 2.0 cable, a USB 3.0 cable, and a SATA connector. I only had one USB 3.2 Gen 1 header on my Motherboard so I added another with a BEYIMEI USB 3.2 Gen1 to Dual 19 PIN Male Adapter Card. The SD and MicroSD memory card reader works for both read and write. The memory card reader uses the USB 2.0 connector so it's a bit slow -- 19 MB/s Seq Read and 5 MB/s Seq Write -- but I don't use this a lot so it is good enough. The three USB 3.0 Type A ports and one USB 3.0 Type C port all run at the same speed as my Motherboard back panel USB 3.2 ports, which is 234 MB/s Seq Read and 55 MB/s Seq Write, when benchmarking with a PNY Duo Link USB 3.2 flash drive that is rated at 200 MB/s Read. All the ports also have power to charge my phone. I haven't tested the eSATA port yet because I don't have an eSATA cable.
