Works Very Well Protecting the Fretboard While Polishing the Frets
Worked very well protecting the fretboard while polishing the frets with 0000 steel wool. There are three sizes for the width of various frets. Be sure to select the guard that fits snuggly over your frets. [Tip: Place a strong magnet in a ziplock bag and then gently sweep over the fretboard and surrounding area to easily capture steel wool dust/fragments from the cleaning process. Then empty over a trash can. Works very well to avoid any mess from the steel wool.]

Exactly as described
No regrets with these. They were the size I needed and work exactly as hoped. Durability seems good. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

A classic & essential tool, but…
One of the most indispensable tools you’ll need if you do any of your own setups, maintainable, or repairs, are fret guards. Several different kinds out there, and these have what most others don’t, which is a handle to hold them in place. They work VERY well. A word of warning though. These fit very precisely over the fret wire that most modern guitars will have. Among the three included widths/sizes. They’re a little too long however than most all fretboards will be. Meaning when you lay a guard over a fret, with the neck laying on your bench running from your left to right, and the frets vertical on front of you… there is some of the guard’s slots that aren’t filled with the fret. Why is this important? And why is it important to be THIS specific? With the guard fitted over the fret, if you were to take a fret rubber or 0000 steel wool to polish your frets, you’ll be rubbing across the fret & up and down in your field of view. Unless you hold the fret guard down with STRONG pressure… the edges of the thin metal the guard is made out of, can dig or cut into your fretboard. Leaving you a nasty surprise when you lift the fret guard away. It’s a good idea to tape the guard down in place so that it can’t slide up and down along the frets, to insure that doesn’t muck up your fretboard. If it happens it IS fixable, but it will take some serious work and skill.

I had to figure out which angle to use and best optimum positioning
I purchased this 3-piece set because I have multiple guitars with various fret sizes. When I've cleaned my guitars in the past, I used the basic metal fret guards with blue painter's tape from Home Depot. While that might work for many guitarists and luthiers alike, I found that the guards kept slipping. It was hard to hold with one hand and scrub the fret wires with steel wool without it inevitably falling off. I also scratched my fingers a few times, and that was unpleasant (an understatement)... My frustration grew until I discovered this product. They are reasonably priced and so simple to use. At first, I had to figure out which angle to use and best optimum positioning. It was much easier to scrub the frets with the steel wool while holding the blue handle (the point of this product). I had to use the aforementioned blue tape to avoid scratching the adjacent frets on the guitar neck. It worked like a champ. Therefore, I gave the highest 5-star rating for a well-designed product. Best wishes, Evan J.

time saver
I love these things. I have a bunch of guitars, and I'm too lazy to tape the entire fretboard every time I clean one. Speeds things way up.

Time Saver
These are a great time saver. I hate using tape on my fretboards, these are gold.

Would have been better off with just painters tape.
Maybe these would be good with fret erasers, but they were pretty terrible with micromesh papers. I apparently had some extra paper touching just past the guard and ended up scratching the fretboard. All up and down the neck. Some light sanding will remove the scratches, but it sucks I have to do that. This is a needless contraption I immediately regret purchasing.
