How difficult to sharpen? How well does this hold an edge?

Victorinox uses steel designated as EN 1.4110. The chemical designation of the steel is X55CrMo14. It’s Rockwell hardness is only 56 so it’s not a particularly hard steel. I find very easy to sharpen and it holds a good edge for a decent time. If you use it to cut boxes it won’t hold an edge very long but it’s so easy to sharpen I don’t mind. Just be aware that this isn’t a super steel or even close to VG-10 but it’s not bad.

The pouch it comes with is nice enough for me. If you havent bought/recieved it yet wait and see if it serves your needs. Then search for something if it doesn't :)
