Really impressed with this set. I didn't know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised at how well the drill and bits work. I use it to drill holes in carved basswood figures and these bits handle that easily and I'll assume they will work with harder woods as long as you don't try to force them through and let the tool do the work. I tried it on a stainless steel ruler I use and it would have gone through but It would take time. I would buy again.

Good price. Decent product. -1star for the steel drills' point grind geometry. Still a bargain, esp if you know how to point a small drill. If the steel drills had better point grinding this would be an even better bargain! Handle works very well, a drop of oil on the finger pivot and chuck threads & 3 chuck fingers recommended (by me). 10 carbide drills were TINY: 0.1-1mm they were well packaged and precision ground with a 4 facet point. Beautiful. 30 more steel drills, basically free! They were sorted & packaged in 3 small ziplock bags, 0.3-1mm >1-2mm, >2-3mm which is helpful. The drills in the 0.3-1mm package needed repointing, factory point grind was so bad that it wouldn't cut birch dowel wood. This may be why some reviews say the drills break too easily. I recommend checking and touching up all of the STEEL drills' points before use. I was going to get the $8 Tamiya pin vise/chuck- this was a bargain for $3 more due to the carbide drills alone. I wish the carbide drills were larger, anything <0.5mm diameter are impossible to use by hand. That is simply because Carbide is inherently very brittle, not a fault of the mfr.

This fulfills a niche in my modeling where a Dremel cuts too fast and would make a mess. This pin vise/hand drill with a tungsten carbide bits this cuts like a dream, is stable, yet still quite controllable. I bought this so I had larger shank capacity for using a wider variety of bits when fixing broken weapon shafts for my miniatures’ weapons. Pining with brass rods or wire is faster and easier, resulting in more durable and stable minis for table top gaming. I highly recommend this if you are working with resin or plastic minis which could use the additional strength added to a spindly parts connection.

Drill bits are brittle. Take care providing too much pressure on bits. A light touch will do.
