Can this hold an instrument with a 3/8" stem? The description says "approximately"

I ordered this holder and it will not hold a 3/8 dial indicator. The hole is much too small at 8 mm and the dial indicators are 9.52 mm (3/8) on my calculator. You cannot pry it open and I don't think there is enough metal to drill it our successfully. I do like how the arms hold, but I am at a loss as to solving the holding diameter. Buying another dial indicator just adds to the cost. I will probably return it.
