So, I added an extension cable and new antenna that is about 12 inches tall, I built a mounting bracket and added it to the top of the post where the control box is mounted. Now my remote works from inside my house (pointing out the window), which is about 300 feet from the gate. This would be as far as you could place the battery from the control box.
