There's 60 of these 8.5x11 inch sheets so you can afford to experiment. This time it's an indoor plant that needs light to maintain it's growth-cycle. A grow-light needs a way to take advantage of it's comparative low power. So a structure is designed to direct the light. Rather than build a spherical or parabolic support I just got a folding cardboard shipping box (did some cutting to provide air circulation and an opening in the front) and covered the inside. The paper-backed reflector sheets are easy to attach to cardboard with water-soluble glue. The single grow bulb is mounted low (pointed up) and the amount of reflected light that hits the plant is scattered and unfocused. It's enough but NOT too intense. The leaves are a beautiful dark shiny green, indicating the exotic tropical is happy with the conditions, and when the illumination is done the box can be folded and stored flat. A good use for these reflective sheets, although there are many more ways they can be used. Focusing and concentrating light is more difficult because the framework must be very sturdy and precise to hold the reflective sheets on a moving structure, for instance, a solar oven. This is not a toy and the temperatures can create dangerous conditions! Just to see what you're doing when working with the Sun it's best to get some welding glasses or goggles (NOT Sun Glasses!) You can easily burn yourself very quickly without insulated, flameproof gloves, etc. Think, Design and Test to be safe! For instance, a solar cooker that swivels OUT of alignment with the Sun so you can do cooking things and then swivels BACK into the previous position as a safety procedure.
