I am thankful for this book
I have struggled with the question asked in the title of this book. How do I respond to relatives, friends and co-workers who deny the existence of moral truth and accuse anyone who does believe in moral absolutes as judgmental (in a bad way)? Dr. Sri has written a practical, thoughtful guide for this very common issue that comes up in so many contexts. Lead with mercy!

Surprised by all the positive reviews
In order to counter the argument that Christians are judgmental, this book advises you to tell unbelieving, unrepentant sinners that you have no idea how God will judge them. It suggests that they may have excuses to sin which only God knows of. The Bible says fornicators will not inherit the kingdom of heaven, but this book says, "Perhaps she is promiscuous because she felt unloved as a child."The only reason this book suggests as to why we should follow God's moral standards is because it will make us happy in this life. It never mentions honor and duty and winning or losing everlasting life. I bought this book to give to my teens to firm up their ideas of morality, and decided not to recommend it to them because it isn't good enough. The author intended the book to be for Christians who want to "plant a seed" for righteousness, and have some witty comebacks when challenged on their morality. The book opens with a girl telling her friend she is against gay marriage, and then she doesn't know what to say when her friends argue with her about that topic. Then the book never does explain what she could have said. It never explains what you might say about any hot topic except, "You'd be better off, and happier if you changed." If you want to know some arguments against abortion and the lgbtq that might appeal to unbelievers, I suggest you look on YouTube and find some for free.I'm sure the author is a nice guy, and he tried, but he wasn't up to the task of writing this book.

Virtue brings freedom to love
This book is definitely worth reading. While children may inherently know that virtue is gives them the freedom to love our lives often distort this instinctive knowledge. Consequently a book like this that teaches the classic model of virtue brings freedom to love is always timely. As Sri says, every action leads to who we are becoming. The virtues of patience, humility, self-control, generosity, discipline, and perseverance are highlighted. Ideas like we find our happiness in our relationships are always helpful. This is a God centered book.

Respond Confidently
This book is written for people who want to better understand why certain moral issues of today are wrong. In addition to explaining a classical and Christian point of view for healthy living, this book also gives reasons To help those you love see destructive behaviors for what they are. This book is easy to read while being both timely and profound.

Highly recommend
I really learned a lot from this book. It differentiates between classical and relativistic thinking in the world culture and how the type of thinking you choose will affect your Christian beliefs. Best of all the author suggests how to approach those we love in a caring way so that they will understand our beliefs. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in learning the best way to approach the topic of our church’s social teachings with others.

Wish I had this book when I was in college! The way Edward Sri addresses many moral issues in our society today is to the point and offers great ways to make sure our beliefs are communicated in a loving and caring way without compromising our values while resisting the relativism prevalent in our society today.

Against Relativism
An excellent book for teens and young adults who are struggling to maintain their moral beliefs against the ravages of our modern relativist society, and for parents, teachers and other leaders who are concerned for their welfare. Sri gives a brief argument against relativism to show its inherent weaknesses, but also acknowledges that a frontal assault on the common philosophy or our time is never effective. He then explores good ways to handle peers who strive to undermine morals. The only weakness of the book is that it is slanted toward a Catholic perspective to the exclusion of all other Judeo-Christian perspectives. However, his honesty in the face of his bias makes the whole unoffensive to someone from another religious persuasion. I highly recommend it to anyone struggling against the modern assault on morality.

Relativism
Great book about how to respond to a relativistic world. It has many different examples of how to engage people with a relativistic world view and how to counter their view. The best way to counter is to show how love moves the heart.
