Can you roll the sides down, and use these to plant potatoes?

Yes, the sides can be rolled down, they are only 15-16 inches tall. I did notit have succes with my 1st attempt to grow potatoes, but climate and possibly over planting were the cause - lots of leaves, jack and the beanstalk size potatoes

Can anyone tell me if using the black colored pot instead of the khaki color makes any difference in growing the plants?
