I’m a vet who works with a local shelter- I get a ton of tiny medical-foster kittens or bottle babies, and I find this is the best food to wean kittens onto ASAP, and my goal is to always get my babies off KMR as soon as I can so my life becomes much easier and I can sleep at night! The texture of the food is like a thick whipped mousse, so even kittens without teeth at like 2-3 weeks might be willing to chow down on it. It’s got a high water content too so it keeps the diarrhea-having- kittens well hydrated. It’s nice and stinky too so they KNOW it’s food and their instincts kick-in better than with other pates or chunks in gravy styles I’ve used, and the texture and flavor is superior to other “mousse” kitten food products I’ve used, it just works for them. I will continue to repurchase this food for my stinky little tiny foster babies over and over again to save my sanity which allows me to keep taking more in to save! I’m so glad I decided to try this food out of sheer desperation with a litter of tiny kittens, I bought a can of every kitten food I could find in Petsmart to offer a buffet and try to wean them and this was the clear winner and has proven itself over and over again! Thank you Weruva for this formula.

Kittens LOVE and I really like bc the "au jus" is more like a gelee, not aspic, but a soft, hydrating formula. Its not a pate and its not shredded although there are pieces or shreds of chicken in it. I know its more $ but I think its worth it. Kittens are so fragile and need hydration. I believe this is one of the ways they get the water they need without being wasteful swimming in food.

My cat only eats the pate, he loves it and how moist it is and so easy to eat. I have to give him breakfast lunch and dinner sometimes a midnight snack as well. He follows me and will wait on a plastic box in the kitchen to let me know he is ready to eat. This brand and tuna salmon is what he loves.

**Updating my original review - I left 3 stars the first time, but I've dropped it to 1. Not sure if I got a bad batch or what but after this made my kitten have horrible gas I decided I would try and see if the neighborhood stray would like it - I mixed it with hot water...he wouldn't even touch it. Didn't eat it..it sat outside and I tossed it. Red flags when stray animals won't even touch food. Steer clear of it. So far Orijen is much better and no gas from any of my cats.I thought this would be good to try based on ingredients and reviewsHowever it gave my kitten severe and I mean severe gas...he smelled up the whole house. Couldn't even have company over. He'd be sleeping on top of the couch and the whole house smelled like rotten eggs.The morning I stopped feeding this the gas completely stopped.Maybe it'll work for your kitten - they're all different but it didn't work for mine.Other than that cans arrived perfectly shipped and in tact no issues there...just not right for mine. I wish I could return it and use that $ to continue looking for a kitten food that works for him.
