Best light therapy lamp ever
18 years ago, I bought the original HappyLight from Verilux, a huge thing with 4 long fluorescent bulbs, and a very functional diffuser cover. What a workhorse. Still able to get 3rd party replacement bulbs a few years back. But 3 days ago, it finally died. RIP my friend. A few years back I did try one of the new much smaller LED therapy lights, but the light coming from such a small source without a decent diffuser gave me headaches no matter where I placed it (but I didn't have the option to put it above my head). Now with this floor lamp, even with a smaller light source, I can put the light far above my head and voila - no headache. Sitting under it now. This one is far more versatile than other light therapy floor lamps, because the height is adjustable. And looks better - has the smooth very flexible neck (and doesn't have the ugly corrugated goose neck that the other model has (sorry Verilux)). Has the same intensity dimmer and color light controls as their other top models. Can turn down it later and use it all day as a task or reading lamp. Worth every penny.

Really nice, good quality floor lamp
I'm really enjoying this light. It gets super bright, but can also dim to a nice level for an evening light for reading or something else. Didn't think I'd be using the different color temps, thought daylight was all I wanted, but the warmer color temperature is really nice for those evenings. The controls aren't buttons but are capacitive, which I think seem like they'll be more durable in the long run. The gooseneck is covered in a nice rubber sleeve, and the pole it stands on is made of metal - overall it seems like a light that will last a long time. Assembling the thing wasn't nearly as difficult as some people here have made it out to be, but the instructions could be a lot more clear. I attempted to assemble it without looking and got to the last step before looking at them, and that was just to check that I was doing it right so that I didn't damage something. It's straightforward. Fish the wire through the tube, screw the threaded ends together, put the base of the pole into the hole in the stand, tighten the bolt on the bottom of the stand with the included allen wrench. That's it. If you're looking for a nice therapy light or just a bright floor lamp, you've found it!

Life changing!
I have struggled with my sleep schedule for decades. This lamp literally changed that completely in a matter of days. It functions flawlessly and actually works therapeutically. I like this particular lamp because I can keep it by my bed and bend it down to my face for my morning light time without having to sit at a desk or have space on my nightstand for it, and it can actually get within a few inches of my face, which is necessary for actual therapeutic use. I have been using the lamp for 4 months and have had no problems whatsoever. I started out using it on a low level for a few days and then progressed up to medium, which was sufficient for my needs. Putting it on high was too much and gave me a headache (I have chronic headaches that are easily triggered). Medium is my sweet spot for effectiveness without a headache. I used it daily for several weeks, and now I just use it a few days a week for maintenance. I went from struggling to go to sleep by 2am to naturally waking around 6-7am and actually getting sleepy at night like a normal human. I am so thrilled and only wish I had found this lamp years ago. Iโm buying another for my adult son who also struggles with his sleep schedule. Assembly was not a problem for me and I have never had a momentโs trouble with this lamp, so I donโt really understand the negative comments on some reviews. Mine works perfectly and feels like very high quality. I have no reason to think it wonโt last for years. VERY highly recommended!

Top 10 Worst Product Designs - and it died in less than 2 months
UPDATE: In less than 2 months, this lamp DIED. I tried taking it apart and reassembling, tried another transformer with similar power output โฆ did bring it back. It died just after the deadline for a return. I am extremely angry at Verilux for producing such a horrible product anc changing so much for it. VERILUX - If you have any honor as a company you would contract me and arrange to reimbursement for the $120.00 plus tax. At the very least, youโd ship me another lamp worth equivalent amount (but not this model because it is horrible). This has to be one of the worse product designs I have ever seen. First, it is incredibly awkward to assemble - good luck stringing the power cord through the pole. I had to tie a string to the cable's barrel connector, put that string through the pole, then pull the cable through. Next, the way the pole attaches to the base is ridiculous. I won't bother trying to describe it. Second, the power cord from the lamp attaches to the power cord on the base with a DC barrel connector. OK, that's find if there will be nothing pull on that cable because barrel connectors come out easily. Well, guess what happens when you raise the height of the lamp - that's right, it pulls the barrel connector out. So, then you have lost power to the light. Which means you need to disassemble it to reconnect the barrel connector. Which will not hold if you raise the height of the lamp! I taped the cables together using electrical tape - I hope that holds. The net result of this awful design is that you have bought a VERY short floor lamp. That defeats the purpose of having a floor lamp. You paid extra for a floor lamp but it only works properly at a height better suited for desk lamp. I spent way too much time fussing with this poorly designed product. It says it is designed in Vermont and made in China. There was a time when they used to say, "Don't worry about all the manufacturing being done in China, because the design is the valuable part and that is done in the USA." Well, these days, if Verilux is any indication, China is now better at product design too. My suggestion is not to pay the premium price for Verilux. The 10,000 LUX light therapy lamps for half the price are just as good, probably better designed, and most likely easier to assemble.

Bad assembly instructions, nice bright lamp
Amazing light! But incredibly bad assembly instructions. Once you search for videos on how to assemble *and* read the *comments* so you can actually understand how to do it, you end up with a nice looking tall lamp that is definitely very bright. The base is heavy but even with that the lamp feels slightly unstable when touching the "buttons", which do not depress at all which is unsatisfying. I think is slightly on the overpriced range, but it is a very good light according to external technical reviews.

Versatile, effective happy light
I had been looking for a lamp to simulate daylight for me, to help get me through some mild Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) symptoms during our very dreary, foggy winter months. I found it with this one! One of the many things I like about this lamp is that it sets on the floor, so I can set it next to my easy chair and use it without having to talk up table space. Its base is solid so you can adjust the bendable portion of the lamp and it doesnโt tip over. I also really like that it has 3 lighting levels and 3 different light tones. I use the bright daylight during the day when I am using it as a remedy for SAD and the soft white lower light level setting in the evening when setting in my chair to read a book. Itโs easy to set up and both the height and lamp angle are fairly easy to adjust. The height of the lamp works perfectly next to my chair. The design is very modern looking, so it does clash a bit with my transitional/traditional decor. I do wish they offered it in a more stylish design or maybe a dark bronze color. The utilitarian white isnโt very pretty with my decor but the functionality and versatility of this lamp far outweigh the lack of color/style options.

Works great for dark winter day painting projects
I use the light for painting projects and it lights up the work area very well. It is easy to set the light to cover the area being worked on . It assembled easily and the base is sturdy - well weighted. The only drawback is that the power cord plug into the base is subject to breakage due to its location (it is easy to bend the plug during normal light movement to highlight changing painting angle, which caused it to break completely off for me). However, I mentioned this to verilux customer service via their webpage and they promptly sent a replacement part. I am very happy with the service and the very prompt reply to my contact email. A previous model that I purchased in 2017 is working great with no problems so hope that this power plug problem is just an anomaly (probably will rig up some protection device for the new plug).. Will purchase another, most likely, if / when my project area expands Love the light settings - both type of light and brightness level. Update on customer service concerning the broken power cord plug: I am blown away with the fast, courteous and accurate customer service. Within 2 weeks I had in hand a brand new lght - not just the power cord like I expected. In fact, I would have been happy to pay for the replacement power cord so I was doubly impressed with their commitment to make the light work again.

Good lamp that doesn't meet my needs - Does not work with a timer + incorrect assembly instructions
My bedroom has no windows so I got this with a timer to help make up for no direct sunlight in there without having to open my door. This doesn't work properly with a timer. It'll turn off at the intended time, but not turn back on automatically in the morning even though the timer has been configured correctly. I've tried 2 different timers at this point, and different workarounds over the course of this last month and I'm pretty sure the issue lies in however the lamp is designed. During the day where I can turn it on whenever, this lamp is great! That doesn't really help with getting that light at early morning hours to help me wake up though.. The assembly instructions that came with it are also incorrect and assembling this thing was insanely frustrating. What the instructions don't mention is that you need to extend the pole in order for it to fit into the base. I don't recall customer support telling me this either, as all they did is basically ask me if I had followed the instructions and said they were going to have an expert call me back.. and said expert never called me back.

Easy to assemble and nice touch controls
Mostly want to write the review to let people know that its not difficult to assemble. My husband laughed after I had it put together 60 seconds after unboxing, because he said there were so many reviews that said assembly was so awful. It took me 2 attempts to feed the cord through the center, and then threaded the base on. Literally didn't read directions. Hubby did mention the tip of stretching out the lamp to more easily tighten up the base and that tip helped. Now I am somewhat handy, but not a pro by any means. And this is not to say that other people's experiences are invalid - but that it might not be so difficult to assemble for you. The lamp itself is quality - the feel of the unit has a nice texture to it, it moves easily in position, the lighting levels are good. And it looks decent.

Game changer !!!!
Okay, first, yes, I have Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). In winter, living in Canada, I have less energy and I need a lot more time in the morning to wake up! I have always had a small desk light to help me, but the light source is always on the lower part. I have tried a lot of other, bigger, more expensive lights. They were good, but way less convenient than this one. This one can be adjusted just at the right angle! A bit on the side and coming from higher than the horizon point. And with the high output it produces, I use it 15 minutes every morning while I read the news. It has simply changed my life! Now I feel energized even in winter. I wake up in a snap, and can get through the day more efficiently. I really, really recommend it. I have curved it at the perfect angle, and because the wire that comes with it is so long, I can just pull it to my side to read, and put it back against the wall after. So I don't change my decor (a requirement for my wife).

Good product, but no low settings
Easy assembly, good form-factor, settings all cycle reliably. My one complaint is that even the lowest of the brightness settings is still very bright. If you're expecting to be able to turn this down to a setting suitable for evening relaxation or reading, this is not the lamp for you.

A well-made sad light
I purchased this light based on the many positive reviews. Some people on YouTube actually did lux and color temperature experiments with this light and it proved very true to its description. The ability to adjust color temp and lux intensity is an asset. Keep in mind that 10,000 lux on high is generally recommended. As for the problem some people had putting the unit together, I can't figure out why there had been so many negative complaints about this. It's basically common sense when putting it together and I found it very simple. You just have to be careful when completing the base attachment to ensure the wire fits in the groove in the small round metal plate in the base. Otherwise, very easy to put together.

Failed
Updating my review to one star. This lamp was good until it decided to just fail on us earlier this spring after just a couple of yrs. Turned it on as usual, same place as always and something in it blew and it turned off never to turn on again. Hate to have to throw it in the trash. Such a waste of materials & money. I have a lamp fm my folks that was in their house since the 70s and still works. So tired of the planned obsolescence crap they make now. Old review: Very happy with this lamp. Not a huge fan of dentist office aesthetic, but my home is in the trees & this light is a game changer in my shady dining room. My father came by and saw my son using it for drawing and noticed the strength of the light for task work & asked about where I got it. Didnโt have issues putting it together, but I did attach a string to the wire to pull it through. No biggie. Would have appreciated more instructions about technical specifications, research links & recommendations for exposure at different settings etc.
