No, you need the awning rail. The edge of the canopy which attaches to the van is designed to fit into an awning rail.

what height are the poles? would this work with a med roof van?

Hi, the poles go to a max of 218cm and can be lowered. Yes it works with a medium roof van or any van as long as you have an awning rail on your van. It helps if the tarp slopes down from the van so any rain can run away from the van so it’s ideal for a medium roof one.

Will it fit a 6mm awning strip please?

It fits on our VW T6 camper that had an awning facility for our drive away awning. . We just needed to slide it in place, I’d buy separate pegs suitable for hard standing as well. It’s great and really worked not massive big enough for two people. I’d get the next size up if you have more of you.
