I had an old style door slot with flaps in both sides that was too small for some of these door mail boxes. I wasn’t interested or able to cut a larger hole to fit the new dimensions of the metal flange for almost every kind of these mail boxes on the market. So I bought this because I saw that the box itself had a wide enough opening. I did not use the mail flap or the funnel that came with this as the mail flap opening is much thinner than the mail slot on the door now which the mailman already struggles with. I removed the flap that was on the inside of the door and attached the box to the door with the screws provided. The box is large enough for magazines and legal sized envelopes and all the junk mail. The only thing that sucks with this is the lock. The little tumbler wheel is not smooth rolling and I don’t foresee it lasting long. I attached a photo to show how the interior is lined up with an existing door slot opening. If you already have an opening, you should be good to go if you don’t want to remove the mail slot flap already installed.

Secure and Durable. Great for Coastal Homes We installed this drop box in July 2024, and it's held up well so far. We live just a block from the beach, so the saltwater moisture and occasional rain were concerns, but this mailbox has proven to be durable. The powder-coated steel finish has shown no signs of rust or corrosion, and the structure still feels solid after several months of use. We chose this model because of the keyless combination lock, which is so much easier for our home office setup. No more fumbling for keys! The lock works well, though the turning knob could be a bit sturdier, that's the only reason for dropping half a star. That said, we’ve had zero issues with it so far. The piano-hinge design and double steel door give it a very secure feel. It seems resistant to prying. The acrylic window on the door is a smart touch as it lets you quickly check if anything's been dropped off without opening it. Installation was straightforward, especially with the adjustable chute feature, and it fit our door perfectly. Overall, this has been a great investment for added security and convenience. Quality product, would highly recommend. Should create one that is no more then 31/2” Box depth to flush inside a wall. Thanks

We received the box and it was damaged but they had another one mailed out and delivered to us by the next day. It works as it should and we have no complaints or issues at this time. If we have issues I will update the review.

While the box seems sturdy the front flap hinge is poorly designed. The one I received was broken already, and the replacement one I was sent seems very weak and will probably break soon. Same problem with the combo lock. Mine arrived broken (the face cover was not on the lock and all the internal parts were all over the box). The replacement box had also the same problem with the face cover of the combo lock not attached, but at least on this one the rest of the lock mechanism was still in place. So I had to glue it back on. I will probably order a different cam lock to replace it as I'm not confident it will last. So while it could be a great product, the quality control of the manufacturer is very bad.

I was a little nervous about cutting into the door for fear of messing it up. However after attempting it I soon realized it wasn't as hard as I thought. The fit and finish looks very nice.
