It’s the little details
A little background. I am a woodworker and innovator. I normally just use graph paper for all of my ideas. However, they always get torn, bent, lost, etc. I have been wanting a journal/sketchbook that I can look back on and pass down when that time comes. This paper is exactly what I’ve been looking for. It’s the edges, the texture, the weight, the vintage feel. On top of that, that packaging falls in suit. It wasn’t expected which goes to show the quality of the paper. For the 13”x16”, it came in a box and wrapped well enough that no damage can come to the paper. Wrapped together with twine and a letter from the maker showing his gratitude from one artist to another. I absolutely will be stocking up and supporting the maker.

Lovely watercolor journal paper
This paper has the most lovely feel to it. I made a hand sewn watercolor sketchbook with some of the papers. The paper holds paint well. Paint does not bleed through even though the paper is thinner than most watercolor paper I use. It is a bit rough for writing with fountain or art pens, and some inks do bleed through, but it takes pigma pens well. This is the first time I have purchased this product, and I was a bit apprehensive about it. But I really do love it. I am constantly surprised at how much water it can withstand. I even paint on both sides and it so far has worked well. I will definitely buy this again.

Beautiful and unique paper
The paper came packaged well and it arrived undamaged. I haven't used it yet, but it is beautiful! I can't wait to start using this paper!! There was a small card added to the package from the artisan that made the paper. It had a brief message from him and that was a really cool thing!I am planning on making homemade sketchbooks with this paper. It seems like it will hold up well to pencil and pen. It has a tooth to it and the "aged" look should yield some interesting artistic pieces. I have seen in other reviews that the paper doesn't work well as a watercolor paper because of the nature of it being hand-made, but I think that would only add character to the artwork.

Not as "vintage" as appears.
While I am highly appreciative of this paper being of handmade quality, I am slightly disappointed to the degree of toned 'antiquity.' The tone is deeper based off images from others and in the description. It appears a bit washed out or missed coloring attempts. Feels rushed. Again, I'm not expecting uniformity, especially because they're handmade. Was just hoping to get the same richness as advertised.I took pictures with some old pieces of Newsprint paper from an old pad for comparison and you can see the difference between actual aged paper to the vintage facsimile. Yes, ph balances are different, but i was hoping for a bit more. Maybe it varies via size? Not sure, but I may alter my rating after use, but I'm considering returning it.
