Puyo Puyo Tetris - Nintendo Switch

I have to say I'm very happy with this game! I missed playing Tetris and I actually have been really enjoying Puyo Puyo just as much if not more than Tetris! Don't feel discouraged if at first you aren't very good at Puyo Puyo. I recommend starting out by watching the beginning and intermediate lessons. Practice by playing the computer a bit and then watch the expert lessons. Practice against the computer again. With time and practice you will improve your skills greatly. Puyo Puyo plays similar to Tetris but it uses dual multi-colored balls or Puyo Puyos. After you group 4 or more of the same color Puyos together they disappear. After they disappear the Puyo's on top drop which may create another group of 4 or more with the same color which in turn disappear and so on. This is called a chain when more than one color group disappears after strategically placing one Puyo Puyo. In order to get really good at Puyo Puyo you'll need to master how to "sandwich" which is a method that stacks the Puyos in a certain way in order to get long chains. You want to get as long of a chain as you can because the longer the chain the more "Garbage Puyos" will be sent to your opponent once their next Puyo Puyo's is released. Your opponent can try to counter the incoming Garbage Puyo attacks by using their current Puyo Puyo to make chains of equal or greater size. Garbage Puyos are basically colorless Puyos and cannot be used to create color groups. This in turn clogs up your/their board and makes it harder to play. I tried playing the online mode and it was really fun as well. Although I did get booted offline mid game about 5 or 6 times during the hour that I tried it. We have high speed 60 mps internet with a high quality router and modem. Hopefully, this wont be a common occurrence. Regardless, it wasn't horrible enough for me to remove a star YET. I will monitor this and update if necessary. Bottom line is it's really fun and addicting! My friends, family and I will play this for hours on end!! I'd agree with other reviewers that this is probably the 2nd best game out for the Switch right behind Zelda. I'm so happy I own this!

This game is a solid experience for any skill level of tetris or puyo puyo player. Even my girlfriend, someone who isn't much of a fan of tetris, enjoyed playing puyo puyo tetris. I will say that the adventure mode is pretty easy for a tetris expert, but that's to be expected, singleplayer assumes you're a huge beginner at first, in order to help get new players into the game. The scenes are pretty enjoyable too, the plot isn't anything to write home about, but the characters interacting and the voicework should be more than interesting to watch at least once. The singleplayer mode features each regular game/challenge mode at least once, and manages to seamlessly incorporate all of them. The puzzle league mode leaves a bit to be desired in terms of matchmaking filters and the rank system, but it's still a blast to play. Replays work VERY well too, the only thing is, you can't upload them to youtube or anything straight from the game itself (can't even record captures on switch for some reason) so I'd STRONGLY recommend the PC version if you're planning to stream or record your matches, else you're gonna need to buy a capture card. In conclusion, this game is a fantasic purchase and offers hundreds of hours of content. It's hard to get burned out with all the variety, and it seems there's new things to do and more ranks to grind no matter how far up you are. Definitely buy this if you're a puzzle game fan.

This is an unfair review from my end because I love Puyo Puyo and Tetris. I have been playing them for decades...not years, but decades. Now I get to introduce them to my children and we are having a lot of fun. Interesting game modes up to 4 players. You can stick with just one game, tetris or puyo puyo and play competitively, or play one game where the game mode switches back and forth between the two every minute or so. Makes it really fun for people who prefer one version (I like Tetris) over the other (wife likes puyo puyo) so there is an even playing field. Lots of little additional items and game modes keeps things fresh. Good animation and graphics (I threw that in as a plug to what we used to say about games in the eighties). I highly recommend for kids, teens and adults who just need a quick arcade game they can get into quickly, and get out of quickly. This will always be a crowd pleaser.

Honestly bought it for tetris but I am surprised how much fun puyo puyo is. I am a lot slower and have to focus wayyyy more in puyo puyo than I do tetris tho. Tetris comes naturally to me and easy to build combos. I am still struggling with puyo puyo but it does not stop me from enjoying it. The animation is very adorable and colorful just as you would expect from a game of colorful blocks and blobs. Also very pleased and pleasantly surprised at the english VA. It is very well done. Most games I dread the fact they do not have duo audio but I actually enjoy the VAs in puyo puyo tetris. It also is a very fun party game (just saying). A well done game and highly recommend it to anyone.

The game is quite silly with a wacky and lighthearted story. This, along with the classic gameplay of both games (plus the styles combined for one mode!) Even if you are a veteran of Tetris or PuyoPuyo, I think you will find this game amusing and challenging! The product I received was an excellent condition, and arrived swiftly!

This game is one of the most played games in my house. Sometimes I feel as if my Switch console is practically a dedicated Puyo Tetris machine. Unlike some others in the house, I don't really like puyo. I'm not particularly good at it but I do love tetris. Game allows you to play various different modes. You can play classic puyo, classic tetris or new games like swap more or the one that is a combination of both in the same game. There is even a story mode available. When I have cousins over, sometimes we can sit there for hours just playing puyo tetras together in swap mode. That's how addicting it is for us. If you're still not too sure about this game then you can think of it this way. This is an excellent multiplayer party game. It allows up to 4 players and doesn't have a steep learning curve to play. Some people might be casual gamers and this would be easy for them to pick up as well.

Lo compre por tetris, nunca había jugado puyo, la verdad pues de tetris no hay mucho que decir es un juego de puzzle clásico, que debes completar las líneas y como opinión personal me resulta muy adictivo y divertido aquí no verás; 4K y demás cosas de ahora, aquí solo será diversión y entretenimiento. En cuanto a puyo y al nunca haberlo jugado me costó trabajo acostumbrarme para realizar cadenas pero ya que entiendes se vuelve algo muy adictivo también, además si te gusta el reto viene un modo fusión que combina ambos puzzle y se convierte todo en caos, no conforme con eso tiene un modo aventura sencillo, pero divertido. A mi punto de vista uno de los mejores juegos de puzzle de los últimos años, sino el mejor. Si quieres diversión y pasar un buen rato con tu switch y cambiar un poco de breath of The wild y mario kart es tu opción.
