Amazing tool
Received this D9S a couple of weeks ago and had the opportunity to use it a few times. I am amazed at the quality of the build and the ease of operation of this tool. First thing I noticed is the case that it comes in and the weight. The case is large with plenty of room for all the cables and adaptors without having to force them into place. The tool is large and easy to read and use even when laying under a car to trouble shoot vent solenoid issues on a 2012 Buick LaCrosse. Connection to the WiFi at my home is quick and easy. Registration with xTool was quick without any unnecessary steps. Updates to the operating system is easy as well as updates for the individual vehicle types. I really like the fact that the tool connection to the vehicle is by WiFi and not blue tooth or hard wired. I had a D8 before this that was hard wired and although it was an amazing tool itself it was harder to diagnose issues because you were tied to a short distance from the OBDII port due to short cable. This tool, the D9S, allows you to move anywhere you want and has a great signal distance that allows you to freely move around the vehicle without and restrictions. The WiFi is also much faster, with less lag time, than the Bluetooth connections on other tools. The WiFi connection and data transfer is instantaneous with no lag time like you are directly connected by cable to the OBDII. The scan time of the tool is quick, accurate and easy to understand. I have used it to identify issues with a 2012 Buick LaCrosse, (Evap vent solenoid, broken wire to vent solenoid), a 2013 Ford F150, (Anti Lock Brake, traction control, failed wheel speed sensor right rear wheel), a 2013 Nissan Altima, (No crank, no start, Bad neutral safety switch). Each of these issue were easily identified by doing manual activation of individual systems within the vehicle to identify what was working and what wasn't. For instance with the 2012 Buick, I was able to manually activate the vent solenoid while under the vehicle and could tell it was not activating. This led me to test wiring and found a broken ground wire. After repair I activated the solenoid again and it worked. If I had not been able to manually activate the individual solenoid I would have been replacing parts without know exactly where the issue may have been. I am highly impressed with this tool so far and will continue to use it in my day to day operation. It will save me time, and money, while troubleshooting and making repairs. Well worth the money and a bargain for what you get compared to other tools with the same abilities.

D9S could be a game-changer If you're willing to learn and comfortable getting your hands dirty!
I recently upgraded from the XTOOL D8BT to the D9S four months ago, and I'm impressed! The XTOOL D9S diagnostic scan tool, paired with the XTOOL XV100 waterproof inspection camera, can be a game-changer. Here's a detailed breakdown of this powerful combo, including its features, real-world experience, troubleshooting steps, and customer service interaction, to help you decide if it's the right fit for you. Real-World Experience: Pros: * Updated hardware and Operating System: Android 10, 4GB RAM + 128GB storage, Built-in WiFi (faster than Bluetooth), USB-C port. The XTOOL D9S builds upon the capabilities of the D8BT, offering significant improvements in startup time and data analysis. Compared to the D8BT, the D9S boasts a noticeably faster boot-up process under 50 seconds, getting you started on diagnostics quicker. The D9S efficiently analyzes retrieved data, allowing you to interpret results and troubleshoot problems with minimal delay. This can be a game-changer in a busy repair shop or for DIY enthusiasts who value their time. * Powerful Diagnostics: Goes beyond basic code reading, offering in-depth system analysis. Supports full system diagnostics, 42+ service resets (oil reset, TPMS reset, ABS Brake Bleeding, etc.), ECU coding (on specific vehicles), and real-time data streaming for accurate troubleshooting. Saved me money by helping me diagnose a faulty Hyundai driver's front airbag clock spring assembly and not the airbag sensor (code B1481) or steering angle sensor (code C1623), which the dealer initially misdiagnosed. * Diagnose the Issue Accurately using live data: The D9S correctly identified a faulty fuel pump pressure sensor. This pinpoint diagnosis saved me from unnecessary repairs or parts replacements. Beyond just the trouble code, the D9S displayed live data on fuel pump pressure, the electronic voltage of the pump, and other crucial parameters. Real-time live data information allowed me to understand the problem's severity and make informed decisions. This saved me an estimated $2,000 compared to what a dealership or mechanic might have charged. * TPMS and Reset Functions: Performed TPMS activation, battery replacement programming, and various service resets myself, saving money on dealership visits. The TPMS relearn system works flawlessly for all my Japanese and European cars. * Long Battery Life: Lasted over 7 hours during a busy day in my shop. * User-Friendly Interface: Well-designed interface simplifies the diagnostic process for experienced DIYers. Smart Topology Module Mapping simplify diagnostics and troubleshoot vehicle's system modules easily * Large Display & WiFi: WiFi provides faster data transfer compared to Bluetooth. The 9.7" display works well with the XTOOL XV100 inspection camera. * Vehicle Coverage: Wide range of domestic and international car models (verify your VIN# with Xtool before purchasing) * Excellent Customer Support: 2-year warranty and Free Software Updates for 3 years. XTOOL's customer service team responded promptly to my emails (even on weekends) and provided helpful recommendations after consulting with their engineers. They require the VIN code to confirm specific features for your vehicle. * Timely release of software and firmware updates for existing vehicles and newly released vehicles * Unmatched Visibility: XTOOL D9S diagnostic scan tool paired with the XTOOL XV100 waterproof inspection camera can be a game-changer. The XV100 inspection scope allows you to see hidden areas within your engine, like cylinder heads, for signs of wear, carbon buildup, and potential problems. The D9S software seamlessly integrates with the XV100 scope, providing a user-friendly interface for image and video capture. Adjustable LED lights ensure clear views in tight spaces. * Detailed Documentation: Capture photos, videos, system diagnostic scanning results, live data, and graphs directly to the D9S for reference during repairs and to share with mechanics or customers for consultation. Cons: * Learning Curve: While user-friendly, the D9S requires some mechanical knowledge to interpret data and perform repairs. Not a substitute for a qualified mechanic for complex issues. * The software requires a paid subscription after the initial 3-year free update period. You will still be able to use the existing software version and access the database of previously downloaded information, but you won't have access to any new updates or features that may be released after the 3-year period. * Subscription and Cost Considerations: While a paid subscription is required after three years, it's important to consider that XTOOL's subscription fees might be competitive compared to other companies offering similar annual services for diagnostic tools. It's always wise to research and compare pricing before making a decision. * VIN Verification Recommended: Certain advanced features might not be available for all vehicles. Double-check compatibility with your specific car model by providing your VIN to XTOOL's customer support team. * 2024 Lexus RX350H, 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 Sedan 4MATIC are not Supported (as of May 21, 2024) but basic OBDII scanning still works. Troubleshooting Tips: * Verify VIN Compatibility: Ensure the D9S supports your specific vehicle model and desired features before purchase. * Consult XTOOL Support: Their customer service team is knowledgeable and can help with troubleshooting and feature verification. * Utilize Online Resources: Search online forums and communities for specific troubleshooting steps related to your vehicle and the D9S * Not a Magic Fix: Requires some mechanical knowledge to interpret data and perform repairs. Not a replacement for a qualified mechanic for complex issues. Recommendation: The XTOOL D9S is a valuable tool for DIY car enthusiasts and professional mechanics who want to perform advanced diagnostics, inspect hidden engine components, and document repairs. Overall, my experience with the XTOOL D9S has been incredibly positive. It empowered me to diagnose and fix a car problem myself, saving me a significant amount of money. If you're comfortable getting your hands dirty and learning about your car, the D9S could be a game-changer! However, if you lack mechanical knowledge or prefer a simpler solution for basic car maintenance, alternative scanners or professional mechanics might be a better option.

Best bang for your buck!
You know, I really have to go to bat for Xtool. Iโm a Master Technician and Foreman at a General Motors dealership. The first D9 I bought was in 2022. There was a problem with the VCI and they sent me out a new one no hastle back then. Worked flawlessly thereafter. Fast forward to today and we were up against the updates running out. Doing it professionally and factoring the great price of the tool that makes us money the option was just to buy another and have the 3 years of updates. We did. The tool is fantastic and powerful. I find myself going to it over our factory tool because itโs honestly a faster set up and on older models you avoid using the archaic Tech2. Really has done everything we needed it to do from GM vehicles to โoff brandโ. The addition of the Wifi VCI makes a big difference over the Bluetooth too. Iโve used all the other tools and many of them are good too but donโt have the value built in like the Xtool. The warranty, price and update support were the selling point to me as I do not own the business and donโt want to spend 3-5k one. If youโre a DIYโer this tool is more than enough. I ran into a problem with the new one that was totally my fault through being careless. Cynthia at Xtool and one of their Engineers whose name I donโt know still stepped up and helped me out saving me a lot of hassle. I teach the young guys at work about the value of effective communication and Cynthiaโs was really top notch and should be a training model for customer service at Xtool. They've certainly earned my business.

GREAT Tool for Auto Repair Shop, but actually not really needed for a "Home User" (like me)
XTool D9 Features that the XTool A30M does not have. IMPORTANT: 1st) Please keep in mind this is NOT an exhaustive comparison list, but it for sure goes over all the "Special Services". 2nd) Also keep in mind that "my list" below tracks mostly towards 'Asian' vehicles (like Honda and Toyota). Where both the XTool D9 and the XTool A30M typically categorize vehicles by the area where the auto manufacture first originated from, if that particular car is available in the USA or not. So normally to see if it has a function for Honda or Toyota that would be listed under โAsianโ (Other Examples: Americas will list GM, Ford, Jeep, Pontiac products and etc.; Asia - Acura, Toyota, Mazda, Hyundai, Nissan etc.; Europe - Alfa, Benz, Ferrari, Land Rover, Mini, Porsche, VW etc.; Australia - Ford (AU), Holden etc.; China - BYD, Chery, Great Wall, MG, Roewe etc. (names I do not recognize). So below ere are the โmajorโ features that an XTool D9 has that the otherwise VERY excellent and fantastic XTool A30M does not have. Spoiler Alertโฆ for most โhome usersโ (like me) there is NOT much difference in my humble opinion. ๐ค๐ As again, for myselfโฆ Iโd rather buy a nicer new iPad that Iโd personally be using much more everyday for other home and work appsโฆ and then plug-in the XTool A30M for occasional vehicle ODBII scanning. Also I must preface, that it is VERY obvious the XTool D9 is a professional heavy duty tool that a shop would use every single day. I would describe it like how a person could buy a MacBook Air M2 or an Dell Laptop, compared to buying a Panasonic โTough Bookโ that is designed to be used roughly, dropped and abused and still work on a job site. Hope that makes sense? ๐ - Key Programming - So, this could potentially save someone a LOT of money if a person lost a key from say a RAV4 Prime XSE or Toyota Tundra where Iโve had friends that have spent $350 to $650 to program a key at a dealership. - ECU Coding & Configurations (used to access and adjust settings and parameters within the Electronic Control Unit ECU) - Asia - Lexus, Mazda, Scion & Toyota - Again for me, I just didnโt need this, but it maybe a big deal to other โhome usersโ or again obviously an auto repair shop. - EEPROM (EEPROM Adapter, which is a type of memory module that can be used to hold, retrieve and delete info when installed in in a computer) - Language Change - Asia - Infinity, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Suzuki - Europe - Benz, Jaguar, Renault - Americas - Chrysler, Dodge, GM, Jeep - AdBlue Reset (Tank, Pump and Various Sensors) - Benz, Citroen, Peugeot - Rain/Light Sensor - Only for - Mazda, Mitsubishi, Renault Samsung, Ford, GM, Lincoln, Audi, Benz, BMW, Fiat, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mini, Renault, Rolls Royce, VW - A/F Reset (Air to Fuel Ratio Sensor) - Asia - Infiniti, Nissan, GT-R (I Europe, Australia & China - FRM Reset (Footwell Module is a Common Problem on these cars - BMW, Mini, Rolls Royce (only) - ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) - All Makes - NOx Reset (Part of the Nix reduction after treatment system in diesels w/urea based SCR Systems) - Only Nissan under Asia - GM for Americas - Audi, Benz, BMW, Mini, Rolls Royce, Volvo. - Control Unit Reset - Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, Seat, Skoda, VW, VW-CV (only) - Odometer Read (But the A30M has Instrument Cluster) - No Honda and only 3 vehicles for Toyota - Speed Limit - No Asia Cars so was NOT useful for my uses. - Clutch Adaption - No Asia Cars, so again was NOT useful for my uses. - Stop/Start Reset - ONLY Infiniti, Mitsubishi, Nissan, GT-R - Write VIN (Write the VIN to a Used ECM) - No Honda and this was again not something I needed. - EGR Relearn - But NO Honda or Toyota - A/C Relearn - NO Honda - SRS (Reset SRS AirBag System) - NO Honda or Toyota, and for me was NOT Needed - VGT Relearn (for Turbos) - NOT Needed and NO Honda, Toyota, Acura or Lexus. Hope this will help others out there... enjoy! ๐

Scanner functions do not work
Unable to program American ecms. On the up side it has a ton of options and functions to pick from. So many you almost can find what your looking for. On the down side almost none of the options and functions work other than diagnostic codes.

X Tool D9 from a hobbist aspect.
Comes in a nice case, with a bunch of leads, and connectors for a lot of applications, even though I have only used the obd2/can connector. The unit itself is a nice android tablet with a fairly bright screen. One con is in very bright sun light, it can be hard to read the screen, but that is something that happens with most screens outside. The tablet is easy to set up on your wifi, its a standard search, select, and input password setup. The X Tool application is easy to update and use. the vehicle selection is broken down into country, make, and model so that vehicles are easy to find and has auto or manual scan. Now i have only used it on three vehicles, f150, focus, and a fusion hybrid. All connected easily and ran through checks fairly quickly. The thing I really like, is that when you do get a dts, it has a magnifying glass on the leftish side that you press and it goes drectly to the code deffinition. All in all with what I have used it on it has been a very nice easy to use device. If anything changes I will update accordingly.

D9S short demo
I had a problem with my d8w. The seller was amazing, great communication. We tried tech support but no success. The seller offered a replacement. I asked if I could upgrade and pay the difference. The seller was once again amazing. I chose the d9s. Itโs slightly bigger, not wireless and does a few more special functions. I was very happy with my d8w but I have to admit the d9s is a better unit for a shop environment.
