Very nice and pleasant cologne!
Okay this is my second bottle... my wife got this cologne for me as a birthday present a couple of years ago. That 1st bottle is just about gone so I ordered a new bottle, so I don't miss a day! I'm picky about cologne, but wife really scored one out of the park!

An old-school classic that is still amazing today...
Wowie! This is a heavy hitting fragrance! This cologne is like...the essence of "Steampunk". When I smell it I see old machinery and dusty old librarians with long curly moustaches and top hats with longcoats and those circular little round glasses. The opening is like BAM!! Dusty libraries and victorian ladies and gentlemen in your face! Then it settles down...just a little into a more calm and pleasant stroke of violet and soft iris...while the victorian ladies are still talking in the background and the dusty old librarian is angrily shouting "SSHHHHH!!!" at them.I haven't gotten to the complete dry down yet as I just bought it...but so far, this is a really mature and regal type of scent!I would wear this to a formal meeting with my patent lawyer or to a big meeting at work...nothing less. This would actually be the perfect scent for a really rainy and grey day.Goodness...I cant' wait to wear this during the next overcast rainy day!!

A good value for an everyday scent
This works for me as a decent scent for everyday use. It is herbal and slightly spicy, with a light sophistication that many scents designed 40ish years ago don't have. Like most older scents, it runs at a price point considerably lower than the latest fad cologne. It usually takes me a long time to work through a 4oz bottle. I give it four stars for being a great value, but it is not my best scent. Is this the right scent for you? The only way to know if a cologne complements your body chemistry is to go to a department store or scent shop. Don't wear cologne that day. Try one scent on one wrist, a different one on the other, no more than that. Colognes have three different scents--the top note will dissipate in about ten minutes, so ignore the initial smell. The middle note may last for at most an hour, the base note will last most of the day. It is the last scent, therefore, that is the most important. Wear the cologne around for the day to see if it smells good on you. After an hour has passed ask several other people whether they like it on you. Check to make sure that your body chemistry doesn't break down the base note before the day is over. Don't be shy about asking random people what they think; you can always open with a compliment, like: "Excuse me. I'm trying a new cologne and couldn't help but notice your excellent taste in clothes. Could I bother you to ask which of these two colognes you think smells best on me?" Women biologically have, on average, a more sensitive ability to smell so it is good to include some in your advising set. My experience suggests they also may be more aware of how your own scent melds with the cologne.Male colognes can be broken up into scents attractive to women (which can usually be worn in any environment), and "masculine" scents mostly suitable for an all-male environment. The research literature indicates that "masculine" colognes are described negatively by women regardless of whether their relationship to you is personal or professional. Men seem to pay less attention to the scents their fellows wear unless the odor is too strong or pairs particularly badly with the individual. Both men and women find the application of too much cologne offensive (I once ate at a restaurant whose waiter could be smelled at ten paces--everything tasted like his cologne). Men who exercise excrete scents attractive to women and donning the right cologne after showering may add to this effect. Further, your diet may play a role in what smells nice on you since some foods yield scents which are excreted through your pores. Unscented deodorants work best if you wear cologne. This partially explains why you should try it before you buy it.I find Eau de Grey Flannel suitable for general use, but I don't wear it on special occasions. If you wish to please a lady, I suggest considering Obsession [works best for me], Burberry [red box], Aramis, Old Spice, or Polo. Please remember that just because a smell works for someone else does NOT mean it will smell right on you! Amazon ratings have limited meaning here.A number of complaints here revolve around this item not smelling like the other cologne marketed under a similar name. I think this mostly reflects a poor choice of marketing names--Eau de Grey Flannel and Grey Flannel are simply different products. Burberry among others suffers from a similar problem with wildly different products that are difficult to distinguish by name. You would think by now that marketers would have caught on that this is a problem. Some companies never learn.

This is gonna be a tear jerker
My husband sadly passed away just 7 years ago. My son was 5 at the time. I had kept his cologne for my son so that he could have it when he got into his teen years- when he started to need it! Well, he turned 12 this year and I went to get the bottle and it was gone. I have no idea what happen to it in our move just last year. I was beside myself bc I couldn’t even remember the name on the bottle! After a couple days of drinking and purging my memories the best I came up with was a blue cologne in a clear bottle with a grey label. I typed that into Google and among other things got Windex. WtfWell, I pulled up my Amazon app and typed “grey label clear bottle blue cologne for men”. Within the first page… just 16 ads down (that was my lucky softball number growing up)…there it was! Amazon for the hero win!!It smells just like I remember and now I won’t ever forget the name! Hell of a lot better than windex…smh

Long lasting but just smells ok.
It lasts all day long which is nice and is fairly strong. But the smell is not my favorite it has a fresh scent but smells somewhat metallic and artificial. Perhaps that's just my taste though.
