Nice ATO for reef tank
Bought this ATO as a replacement for a more expensive ATO that stopped working. This ATO was very easy to start up. It has an alarm to let you know if your reservoir water level is getting low so the pump doesn’t run dry and burn out. I’ve force tested the alarms for high water level and low reservoir level to ensure it shuts down as designed and it works perfectly. No overfills. Keeps water level steady.

Hard to set up
It's hard to use to top off your actual tank of you don't have a sump. I tried to set it but the rim of the tank was in the way. So I held off setting it up until I can upgrade my tank and try again in my sump.

No
Didn't work as intended for saltwater. This needs a clear glass to work.

Best Value for the Money
I tested this product on 2 separate fish tanks. I first installed it on my 10 gallon nano reef tank. The tank is a 10 gallon rimmed tank with a tidal 55 HOB filter, a Hygger full spectrum light, and a aqua top heater.1. Unboxing - at first glance there isn't many pieces compared to my other ATO's. I noticed that the submersible pump is very small. It is maybe 1.5 inches across and about the same height. The controller is also very compact.2. Connecting the device - The pump, AC adapter, and controller are simple to connect. There are 2 small cables coming off the of the controller. One has a male end and the other a female end. Respectively the pump has a female connector and the AC adapter a male end. This is helpful since the type of connections are the same. You cannot connect it wrong.3. Setup - In the user manual there were 4 steps to installing the system. Its super simple. I will say it took me a minute to understand the "SPT". So here is my explaination of that. SPT is single pump time and seems to be an overflow safety feature. When you initialize your system it calculates how long it has to driver the pump for the water to reach the high sensor. So if for some reason one of the sensors is not working it will only run the pump the time it recorded to fill the tank from low to high the first time it was initialized. So this seems to be an added safety feature.Observations: The controller does not fit well on a rimmed tank if you want the water level above the viewable portion of the rim. The system is better suited for a rimless tank or a sump.During installation of the universal holder I noticed that it would not fit over the rim of the tank as it is not wide enough. I connected it it to the lid of the tank and was able to make it function. Not ideal if I have to remove the lid but it works. Again, this is another piece that is likely intended for a rimless tank or a sump. Overall its a great system and is very valuable for the money. I highly recommend this ATO.Second tank I tested it on is a 220 Gallon reef tank with a 40 gallon Eshoppes sump.1. Setup - The setup was similar. The ATO Controller and the Universal Holder both fit the way they intended.Things I noticed after I completed the setup. This ATO is super quiet. I can't hear it when it comes on. The ato I have running now is very loud and 3 times the price.Recommendations. I recommend this product for sumps and rimless tanks. It can be used in rimmed tanks with some modifications.NOTE!! Place the controller portion on the exterior of the tank! The first time I went through the instructions I placed it on the inside of the tank. the Mag float goes inside not the controller!

Good… not “Great”
It works as expected, although it’s not the most intuitive/user friendly. The sensor is extremely susceptible to residue buildup on glass. It works great for a while… and then one day it’ll stop running. The first few times it happened I couldn’t figure out why. Tinkered with it and it just started working again. Finally I figured out it was water spotting- but often the spotting is so minimal you can barely see it. Not terrible for the price, but it’s really annoying how fussy it can be. I run it in my sump (so no algae growth etc) and I still have to tinker with it about once a week (vs other ATOs I’ve used were essentially plug and forget). On the plus side, the audible alert for the the dry bucket is loud enough to hear, but not so loud you want to break something 😂 my last ATO would wake me up in the middle of the night even though my aquarium is in the living room and I’m down a hall with a shut door. This ATO also has fewer cords than others, and is simple to assemble. I love that the control module is built into the sensor- helps keep everything tidy. The user manual could definitely use improvements though.Overall, not terrible, but not great.
