Fantasy adventure game, not for the impatient!
Today we have the game Labyrinth (no relations) Paths of Destiny. While it is not mentioned on the description, it comes with two expansions: Monsters and Events. There are a large number of components to this game which (at a glance) make it seem a whole lot more complicated than it really is; so I would recommend having at least one person who is more confident with board games help you get things set up for the first time.Once everything is sorted out and set up (a bundle of zip lock bags are provided for this purpose), it's a lot easier to understand. Some of the instructions could do with an extra round of proof reading as some of them confused me as key rules such as how to win, and what happens if you encounter the golem are not made clear or prominent.I tried playing with just the two players, and we had a good hour or so with the game (you can see the end state above); but with two players it seems less exciting with only a small portion of the board used. I expect it to be a lot more interesting with more players!Given the price point I was quite delighted by how much effort and thought has gone in to creating this adventure game, and I particularly enjoyed that fighting and random chance through dice are only in there as a little extra spice, and aren't the main event. As mentioned earlier, the game comes with two expansions. I did not play with either as they increase the game's complexity and are not suitable for people new to fantasy style games. The expansions add random events and NPCs who crawl through the Labyrinth to try and make your lives more challenging.I'll look out for some victims to get over for a games night and try this out with them, should be fun!

Nice game, a few quirks
The game itself is reasonably well made, thick card for the tokens etc so durable enough for teens and up, younger kids though may wear it out pretty fast.Artwork is, average but what you would expect at this price point and being a more "family" orientated game. The gameplay I would describe as "ok". Its fun enough but with the minimum player number being 2, its just a little bit, lacking in something that I cant quite put my finger on.Rules are a little over complex for a quick game and those with shorter attention spans may not enjoy it in the first couple of runs (younger children) which again makes the concept of the game being a family game a little odd. But if you can plow through a couple of games you'll get the hang of it just fine and be able to enjoy it for what it is.Overall the game offers value for money for the most part as board games aren't cheap anyway, but the rules really need a look at, possibly a "quick game" mode could be added that simplifies things a little for those with shorter attention spans or wanting quick sessions.

Excellent fantasy game!
Labyrinth Paths of DestinyThis is a great game for those who love fantasy, role-playing and intricate rules. For those who read fantasy, I would describe it as a steep learning curve, but once you are familiar, it's good fun.The board and all the components are made to a high-quality standard. I did find some of the symbols on the cards small and hard to read, even with my glasses. The seller's page minimum ages of 132, 144, 168, and 96 are impressive! I would go with 8-10 and up as some of the rules and gameplay are complex. The game is for 2-6 players and you can team play if you wish. The goal of the game is to move through a magical maze to gain immortality. Once in the labyrinth, there are plenty of obstacles and traps to prevent your success. You can play as a warlock, grim reaper, hunter, assassin or other characters. You compete against your opponents and, with the aid of magical artefacts, can overcome them to win the game. It's a great game and each time you play the game changes, depending on your strategies. It's not a quick game and will provide hours of fun, fantasy roleplaying, and logical thinking! There are two expansions in the game - events and monsters. I've not tried these yet as it takes a while to truly understand the basic game.Overall, this is a well-thought-out and complex strategy game, similar to D&D but not exactly the same. I enjoyed playing it, but you will need people of like mind to play to get the best out of it.

Love the design, love the theme but the rules need some work
This is a dungeon crawler like game that I had never heard of before. The objective is to construct a path to the centre of the labyrinth by placing tiles and then to get there with a key. The maze is protected by a Golem that you take it in turns to move and which can send your opponent back to the start. There are also options to have monsters and encounters. You really need to have the monsters as the victory condition in the game requires you to vanquish a monster in the centre of the maze and with a two player game the other player isn't going to throw themselves on your sword as a sacrifice. That is the issue. The concept of using the tiles to design the maze is good and the art-work is fantastic but it just doesn't play well. The rules need a serious rethink to make it playable at all. I would make it so that you can place the tiles to block in your opponents but that you have an extra action that allows you to rotate tiles but randomly according to a d6. This would allow players to unblock themselves. Also the rules use icons to try and make them easier to understand but I found it harder dealing with the icons than I would have with text. I really think that there could be a great game in here but it needs a redesign of the rules.

Fun to play, if a bit complicated.
Has elements of D + D roleplaying with some of the complexity. If you enjoy fantasy styled boardgames that a take a bit of thought it's a nice game to play with the family.Well made board with good quality pieces. I enjoyed playing with it.
