Survived 3 weeks in package after hurricane!
Ordered the 1000 small larvae and the 50 large, they were shipped to us but then a hurricane turned our way and we had to evacuate. When we were able to return 3 WEEKS LATER and the post office resumed service, we fully expected the larva to be dead. I opened the package to check anyway and almost every single one of the small larva are fine! Unfortunately, the majority of the large were dead, but since we were expecting a full loss, we were very pleasantly surprised. Turns out that our Anoles love the small size better, anyway. They are bite size and easier for them to eat. I put a bunch into the soil of the plants in their habitat in the hope they may become flies and add extra fun and exercise.

Still alive and baby frog likes them.
I'm new to frog world. My son brought home a baby Pacific Tree Frog, and we have tried both these and the smallest crickets. I find these easier to deal with. I just use chopsticks to transfer them into the enclosure. It's been a couple of weeks and they are still alive in the little container they arrived in.

Larger than expected
Let me start with saying I have been generally pleased with everything I order from Josh’s Frogs and plan to continue buying from them. That said, I ordered both small and large soldier larvae to use as feeders for spiders that are pretty drastically different sizes. The smalls are much larger than I expected based on the product images- they seem to be roughly the same size as the larges I received. Thankfully my smallest spider (an i5 jumping spider sling) was happy to hunt and eat one of the larvae anyway. I did also order a golden d.h. culture, so I have that as backup if she or any of my other smaller slings start to struggle with the larvae. This was my first time ordering soldier fly spikes so I’m not sure if this is expected (I usually get green bottle spikes but they were unavailable), but you may want to order smaller than you think you need depending on the size and appetite of your critters. If I had known they would be so similarly sized I probably would have just ordered a larger quantity of the larges. That said, everything was packed very securely, shipped quickly, and arrived in great shape!

alive and wriggling!
I used this product for my lizard who's still pretty young and small and he eats them up! The package was delived very quickly and they were all alive! They are much smaller than I expected because I'm used to meal worms but my lizard likes them! Will be ordering again!

Black soldier ant larvae
These were much smaller than I expected. I could barely see or pick them up with feeder tongs. Really wasn't worth the effort but I hadn't ever ordered these before so that might be as big as they get.

Well Worth The Price. Make Sure To Clean Several Times After They Grow.
These little guys are great. I have had them before for a Chameleon and am currently using the for a Bearded Dragon. Everything loves them! The small ones are easy to raise to large flies, but be aware, its messy and they're a bit smelly! The best way I have found to take care of these little guys is as follows. You will need to feed them for about a week on soft foods and then remove them from the food. Rinse and add to a slightly damp medium. Wait 12 hours and then rinse and put in new medium. If not they stink! These spikes secrete an enzyme to make themselves less appealing and ward off other species of flies. It is a process, but its not terribly difficult, just a bit timely and 1000 fly larvae any other way would cost a fortune!

Great for baby beardies
Bought these for my baby Bearded Dragon. He loves them and is, honestly, getting a bit spoiled by them. When the container arrived, it was cracked and had packing tape wrapped around it, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. We dumped the BSFL out of the container they shipped in and into a heavy weight container we had laying around for leftovers, and they've lasted just fine. My beardie decided to brumate just as I bought these, so they sat around for about a month, but we're to the end of the container now, and I've found very few dead ones. I'd definitely buy these again.
