Great, lasts for years -- don't use if you have any kind of implant, though
The trick to setting up the WiFi connection is to do it via the Withings smartphone app (unfortunately). It tracks your weight and transmits results to the Withings app plus others, such as Fitbit, Cronometer, MyFitnessPal, and generates a graph to show your progress or to give you an incentive to try harder.I had the earlier model, which worked flawlessly for more than a decade. It still works for weight, but it stopped tracking BMI, which isn't a good indicator anyway according to recent science, and weather, which I don't need scales to do. But it was clearly starting to fail despite years of reliable service, so I ordered this newer model, which is the simplest one Withings sells. I highly recommend it.I'm pretty sure that this is the ONLY Withings Wi-Fi scale that does not send a small electrical current through the person's body when they're on it to weight themselves. People with pacemakers, implanted heart monitors (loop recorders) and similar implanted devices can use this one, a Withings rep told me, because it does not do that.

Great for tracking weight
I rarely use the app, but this is great for tracking weight long term via the Health App on iPhone. Also enjoy the feature showing difference between the most recent weigh in, since I don't look at historical weight that often. It can also identify different people (if average weights are different enough), so I can keep track of my dog's weight as well as my own.Batteries last for a very long time.

A smart scale you can stop thinking about once you set it up
TL;DR - While it's a bit of a pain to set up at first, it works flawlessly after and gets out of your wayThe Good:- Connects with fitbit app- Connect it once when you set it up, then forget about it. All weighings are automatically pushed to wherever you set it up to push them (fitbit app, withings app, apple fitness)- Accurate- Weighs quickly without the need to "tap it first"The Meh:- Setting it up is a bit of a process. Took me about a half an hour and a couple of failed startsThe Bad:- It does send your stats to a server that Withings runs, if you want to have it auto-sync (which is the primary reason to get it). That said, if auto-sync is a feature you want, you won't find anything in this price range that doesn't do that. Before this, I had bought a fitbit aria scale, because I wanted to track my weight in the same place as my calories and sleep. The aria scale had two major problems:1 - the aria requires you to pull out your phone, hit some buttons, stand on the scale, and wait for it to connect to save your measurements. Huge pain in the still-too-large behind.2 - the aria is accurate +/- ~7 lbs. Which is to say, it isn't accurate. This scale has no such problems.Setup is a little bit of a hassle, but it only needs to be done once.

Does not Weigh-in: Mind your App Updates -- Bluetooth and WiFi Conflict Issues
This scale was generally good when it worked. Recently, batteries were low, so changed them out. Well...scale no longer connects to app properly, which means it no longer works. Went though the whole trouble shooting process, even went on-line per the app, got into an AI chat. Got a human on the chat for Withings, who asked many questions and made suggestions such as "make sure your bluetooth and wifi are on, and you are within 5 feet of device, use new batteries". The human even offered to call me but when I said yes, they said it would have to be next week. Not really a resolution. At this point, it might be better to look for something that does not require so much work to try to get going after a battery change. On balance, it was not hard to set up out of the box when it was now , but the Withings device does seem to have failed or maybe the was a boggled app update (to 7.0.1 confirmed by Withings Tech in Chat) and it does not seem to even be able to be set to use as simply a scale. Withings was not able to resolve after 2 hours of troubleshooting, and indicated they would "get back to me".

great as long as you get past the set-up
Set-up was a major PIA. I have a samsung galaxy S23+. I put my phone onto wifi to ensure I had a very good internet connection. I downloaded the app and followed the instructions for the scale set-up.(Pull tab to start batteries, press power button for 3 seconds, and begin pairing process.) Super easy right?Nope. Pairing failed.... about 6-7 times it failed!I had to contact tech support. They had me restart my phone... then everything worked perfectly well. So, if you bought this scale and have trouble setting it up. Restart your phone before pairing with the scale, and make sure your phone has great internet reception.I have it standing on a tile floor that is relatively level. It measured my weight within a pound of my other scale (which is a high quality scale, but also 25 years old). I suspect it is accurate. To those who were upset that the scale's reading fluctuate within a pound or so if you reweigh yourself within a minute, that is because the standard error for all scales is several ounces, along with the fact that the precise position of your feet and arms always alters scale readings. It's not meant for that level of sensitivity. While struggling to set this up, I debated returning it. Now that I realize I only needed to restart the phone, I'm quite content with the app and the scale.
