ESS Dual Engine Sound Simulator System for Axial SCX10/SCX10 II Traxxas TRX4 Axial Wraith (Dual+Engine)

This speaker is awesome and pretty durable- been intalling them for years now. Plus, I found support for installation help to be responsive and quick. The software is pretty easy to use once you do it once or twice. They offer a wide variety of sounds and configuration options. Very cool system!

The ESS Dual+ provides amazing scale RC sound. I've got two of them on RC crawlers that my son and I built, and they add a level of realism that's hard to beat. There are something like 100 road car sounds for various real cars, 4 rock crawler sounds, 6 offroad buggy sounds, a few boat sounds, some airplane sounds, a few horns and sirens, as well as braking screeches and turbo sounds. The ESS Dual+ comes with two default sounds, a rock crawler and an short-course offroad buggy racer. You switch between them by holding down the "-" button until you hear one beep (rock crawler) or two (offroad buggy). The default sounds are pretty fantastic, but you really can't get the full value out of the Dual+ unless you install the RCPlus software that allows you to customize the sounds and settings. The RCPlus software is available by searching for SenseHobby(dot)Com. The RCPlus software is Windows only. Note that you MUST install the CH340/341 USB serial port driver or Windows will not recognize the S-link USB adapter that comes with the Dual+. The CH340/341 USB serial port driver can be downloaded by searching for CH341SER_EXE. If you're on a Mac, you can download the UTM virtual machine (free), download a copy of Windows 11 (free and works fine without a product key), and install Windows 11 on the UTM. Note that VirtualBox (another free VM) will NOT work. It does not allow the RCPlus software to recognize the S-link USB adapter that comes with the Dual+. As noted above, you MUST install the CH340/341 USB serial port driver. Since the instructions are VERY unclear, you connect the black/red/white wire (not the yellow wire) of the Dual+ to the included S-link adapter. Plug the S-link adapter into a USB port on your computer. You do not need to power the Dual+ or have it connected to your RC vehicle. Open the RCPlus software on your computer. If the computer gives you a popup asking whether you'd like to connect a serial device through the USB port, click "yes." Your Dual+ should show up in the RCPlus software. You can go to the "Store" in the RCPlus software, download additional sounds, and install them. You must install a horn sound for the horn to work. It's not installed by default. Then connect the yellow wire to one of the channels of your receiver and operate that channel to make the horn work. Also, I recommend turning OFF the rev limiter. It just repeatedly cuts out the sound at high revs, making it sound like the audio is clipping. It's awful and sounds like the device is malfunctioning. The "brake" sound will only operate if you go from full forward throttle to full reverse (which may or may not damage your motor or gearbox). The "turbo" sound only operates under some combination of circumstances (rotation speed, pressuring time, and throttle change) that's not specified.

I decided to give this a try and tossed it in my CEN Racing F-450.. I have to say It makes me giggle like a kid hearing the truck sound so real. Everyone who has heard it is blown away. The options for different engine sounds, throttle sensitivity, idle length etc.. Are great. I ended up buying another for one of my crawlers and another for my Fazer Mk2 kit build..all with sounds to fit the vehicle type and all sound great. Easy to hook up and easy to move between vehicles if you want to use in more than one. My only con for this is the software you download and website you use is Chinese and asks for a lot of permissions, one of my computers didn't like that/allow me to even install or open it. I ended up putting on an old laptop I have, who knows how secure having that program on my computer is, but I have nothing on that computer should there be a virus or something from it. Overall I think the little bit higher price tag of this brand is worth it over the cheap ones out there with how much customization you have. 100% recommend

Super loud if you wanted to be really like it sounds good easy set up

I was really skeptical about this at first, and I kind of bought it on a whim after seeing some videos online. I thought that sounds would be a little silly from an RC car. I decided to pull the trigger as I just got the Mercedes TRX-6 and had the perfect spot for it. Well this thing is AWESOME, my TRX-6 has a HobbyWing Fusion Pro in it and it works great with it. I needed an adapter that had male JST plugs on it so I could run it with my lights as well. My splitter was only female JST’s all the way around so I had to get creative, but I managed to get it working. I ran it on 2s but it says it can go up to 6s, just needs to be turned down. I have it turned up one or two and it’s pretty loud then, and can get louder. I also had a little servo extension from the receiver for the Fusion, so I just threw the splitter on and plugged it all in, along with the JST power plugs and it worked right out of the box. I ended up using some Velcro to hold it in place even though it comes with mounts and double sided 3m. I stuck it right in the front battery plate on the TRX-6 and it’s a perfect fit, along with adding some weight to the front. All in all, it’s very nice. I was going to get the smaller one but for 5 bucks extra I got this, and it’s worth it. Haven’t used the program yet but I’ll be doing that soon and hopefully I can tweak a few things on it.

Once you get one of these you will never be able to go back to without one. Easy to program and install. It comes with brackets for popular kits as well, but I had to custom install mine which was also easy. Be mindful of volume on 3s battery and certain sounds will be louder than some, and can blow the speakers. Its plenty loud in middle to have the desired effect and last for years. Have fun and get one you will love it. I use mine on a rock crawler but they are also amazing for drift cars as well or anything that needs that scale sound.

Sounds very real , and the throttle sounds are smooth and sound very realistic!

Okaaaayyyyy. So dont get this. Its cool, functions well. but. When you download the software (virus) to install new sounds. It'll basically make whatever your computer you have junk. Mine is completely useless now. Can't do anything because it is stuck on a screen that just wants credit card information...

Set this up on my first gen axial scx10, it’s awesome. Comes ready with 2 engine sounds, easy install. You can program any other types of engine sounds plus horn sounds using a PC. A must have if you enjoy scale driving since it adds a layer of realism and fun.
