Its longer for a deeper cut on the wood. Be mind full that some woods are harder to cut when they are dry.

This axe sits on the bull bar of my old mean pickup truck... beautiful blade and great handle.... have not yet had opportunity to check it out splitting wood yet. .

Very pretty but handle broke in half the second time my son used it. Maybe it is supposed to be decorative?

A brilliant axe! This not a log splitter, this axe is for chopping already split log segments. Beautifully crafted, we balanced, hickory handle, good shaped head, very well made. A good weight at 1.4 kg, again I recommend to use walnut oil to nourish the hickory handle and clean and sharpen the axe head I use a light oil ( gun oil) and a sharping stone. If you respect your tools they will last a lifetime and serve you well. Respect the craftsman who made your tool. The shaft is well made in a traditional style with hook end for end of swing grip, the axe head is well seated on the shaft with double head fittings and rubber anti shock sleeve. A great product and good value for money.Thank you .

Bought this to help me get a tree stump out of the ground so first day of using it and I have to say it seems pretty sturdy the axe head is very well fixed to the good sturdy handle no complaints only thing I will say is the axe needed some sharpening before use but this wasn't a problem
