quality kit, not cheap knockoff
Great kit. Everything worked (I was reluctant based on the photos as it looked like it might be a cheap knockoff, but it wasn't). The drill bit is solid; I drilled and re-tapped 4 bolt holes in a motorcycle frame (to hold the center stand bolts on 2 motorcycles, so they were tough steel not aluminum) and the tap threads remained intact after all 4, therefore the tap is good to go for many many more rethread operations. same with helicoils and inserting equipment. plenty of helicoils in case you mess up. I WISH I HAD BOUGHT THEIR BIGGER MORE INCLUSIVE KIT. next time.

Whole set cost less than 5mm kit from NAPA!
Had a 6 & 8 mm kit, Needed 5mm kit, so i got one from NAPA with no drill bit included, cost more than this whole set. So ordered this for just 10 & 12, good quality, complete with drill bit for each size and a GREAT VALUE!!

Good product, but instructions could be clearer
I bought this product not for repair, but to install a large number of Heli-Coils in a mini-mill tool plate I was making. As bolts are repeatedly installed and removed as different workholding devises (vises, rotary tables, etc.) are bolted to it, I wanted something stronger than the cast aluminum of the plate itself. This kit covers the size insert I was using for the tool plate, and I liked the idea of having the other sizes for repairs. The instructions are intended primarily for repairs, and say basically, "Drill out the old threads with the supplied drill bit, tap the hole with the supplied tap, screw in the insert with the supplied tool, and then break off the insert tang with the supplied tool and a hammer." I decided to also use a tapping guide to ensure that the tapped hole was square to the part. Fortunately for me, I used a scrap of 3/4 inch thick aluminum as a test bed first to try out the kit. I followed the instructions and installed three inserts; all three went in wrong. The first two insert bottoms were protruding from the bottom of the hole before the top of the insert went in! A friend who has used this before advised me that it works better if you: 1) use the supplied collar on the installation tool. This collar is slid all the way up on the tool and is not even mentioned in the instructions. Use the supplied hex wrench to loosen it, and slide it down so that, when an insert is placed on the end of the tool, the insert tang is just shy of touching the base of the driving slot in the insert tool, and tighten the collar there. This will prevent you from stretching out the insert as I did.2) When you drill the holes, use a center drill to make a 60° countersink slightly wider than the outer diameter of the insert. This will act to guide the insert into the threaded hole correctly. If you don't have the tools to do this step, just be careful to start the insert squarely and don't force it.Once I started using these two tips, the inserts went in without difficulty. I have since installed about 20 of them with no problems at all, and also had to use one other size for a smaller toolmaker's vise.I recommend this kit, but be aware of the collar use. I would have given this product five stars but for the lack of mention of the collar in the instructions.

Product Actually DOES what it CLAIMS it DOES.. Seems to be a rare commodity these days... Pricey, but worth it.
Bought the entire set even though I only really needed to replace one threaded M10 bolt insert at the time because I thought that it would be handy to have around just in case I cross-thread a bolt.. Although this has never happened to me... The repair I needed to make was because I bought a used motorcycle and the previous owner cross-threaded the threaded holes where the side mirrors attach and because he couldn't get them in decided to ride the bike without mirrors.. I didn't realize this until I tried to install new mirrors I purchased of course.. In any case, I was worried because I didn't quite understand the concept based on the description of the product on Amazon, but as soon as I got it, everything made perfect sense, and is really quite ingenious. The repair took approx. 2 mins. and the bolt screwed in just as if it had been a newly tapped hole. I was ready to plug weld the handlebars and re-tap a new thread in case this was a joke, but I've used it so many times now as an alternative to tapping a thread because you can just drill a hole and drop a "spring" (coiled-insert acting as thread teeth), of course only in applications where high strength pull-out values are not an issue. Beats, getting the tapping set out, cutting oil, cleanup, finding the right tap, etc... A little pricey, and haven't needed to purchase any additional inserts yet, but assuming they are sold separately, great product. Does exactly what it says it does.. Rare these days.

TAP WRENCH NOT INCLUDED
I picked this kit to repair a couple of stripped out holes in an aluminum engine head for a Honda. It seemed like a good value and had everything required... Except it does NOT include a wrench for the taps and I quickly found nothing in my vast army of tools that could grab the square-ended tap to rotate it.For the first hole I substituted a 5/16 socket which grabbed the tap well enough, but the larger one required a tool I found on a clearance rack about 20 years ago a crescent 'rapid wrench' since I do not have a tap wrench it would have to do, but I found the 2nd hole in question had already been helicoiled before so if this does not hold it will require drilling out a larger size and sleeving with a much more expensive kit (about $90 for 1 hole!)I used 2 different coil holder wrenches from the kit for the 2 different holes and both of them are absolutely thrashed after doing 1 hole each. One didn't want to let go of the helicoil, the other bent and the collar fell off.The instructions are very basic. If you really know what you're doing this may be a reasonable kit but I don't believe it will last for even 1/3 of the included coil inserts. YMMV.

Best kit for the money
Worked perfectly for a stripped connection on a motor. Bolt hole was open on both sides so I couldn’t bottom out the coil and it still held perfectly and let me torque the bolt down.
