My expensive German soldering iron had gone bang after only a few weeks, and the cheap tide me over thing form the local DIY shop went in the bin that evening. My German tool went back under waranty and this arrived as a stop gap. Functionally this is very similar to my Atten. Push button control, rapid heating and a precise soldering tip. For model railway soldering, this tool is excellent. In fact, my Atten was replaced and the new one is still in the box. This is working well and at a fraction of the price. It comes with extra tips, which could be useful. I use quite a fine solder rather than the stuff that comes provided. The little stand and sponge are more ornament than use - get a proper stand to avoid accidents.

This is great for if you need to make a few quick connections. Good as a quick travel soldering iron. Any more demanding and get your station out. The temperature control seems to work fine. Feels quite normal in use, perfectly fine on that aspect. It solders well. You get different tips and a microscopic stand with minuscule sponge. Stand and sponge are good for the few soldering but not for long use, just like the iron. Not sure if it is exactly 90W though, but powerful enough for almost all moderate electronic work. I don’t want to use it for 1.5mm copper wires or similar, unless you crank it up to max which then blackens your tip to single use. The tip doesn’t have the thermal mass to do thick things. So this could be either great if it matches your expectations or terrible if you really need heavy duty or use it long term. Kind of common sense is to buy stuff for your needs.

I am very pleased with this soldering iron ; it heats up very quickly and works really well with adjustable temp control and is available at a bargain price with some basic accessories but do yourself a favour and get some decent solder wire It makes me realise how basic my previous iron was with no temp control and it is already in the recycle bin!

Cheap but OK quality soldering iron, fairly crude controls but for the money you can’t complain. Heats up fast and works fine.

Sadly I can’t take my solder station everywhere and this is the closest thing I can get to one working on a car off site. The temperature gauge is accurate to 10% and the best function is that you can turn it off on the iron. I get frustrated having to get up from an awkward position to find the switch near the plug on other models or having one that doesn’t turn off and you burn holes in expensive car carpets. The stand is also one of the best I’ve encountered in the price range. Reheating is very fast and you have a great tip selection. This solder iron kit is the only thing you’ll need whether you’re just starting out or if you’re a professional like myself. 10/10. I accidentally stood on mine and their own customer service, not Amazon, sent me a replacement within 5 days. I will keep working with this company for other products too. Buy with confidence!

Generally a good product, heats quickly, is light and easy to use. BUT the air turned blue a few times when I'd got everything in place to make a joint, and wondered why the solder wouldn't melt!
