Zhiyun somehow added new features to their Smooth Q line. Already a great gimbal the Smooth Q4 adds an extendable 3 axis gimbal. It is an improved design that allows the arm to be extended and pivot just under the pan motor. This would be great for those who will use this gimbal to vlog or get selfie shots without changing. The other big change is the new way the arms fold creating a more compact position when not in use. This is rather helpful if you are traveling with this gimbal. It easily can fit in your pocket so that it can be carried around when you are traveling. It still retains a small compact design but still have strong enough motors to handle an exterior lens like the ones from Moment. All motors have a locking position so the motor doesn’t just spin when not in use. Attaching the phone to the gimbal is simpler with the new design of the attachment arms that just fold out. Startup is easy with the new ZY Cami App. Just power it on and the blue tooth automatically connects after initial setup. The app itself has several different shooting modes like timelapse, hyperlapse, slow motion, panorama, and zoom dolly feature. You can also so dome editing directly in the app.The Smooth Q4 is make of a high-quality plastic body with really grippy rubber grips and makes it feel really secure in your hand even though it is quite compact. On the right side you have a power button and a USB-C charging input. The main controls include a joystick to make adjustments to the roll and tilt of the phone in the gimbal. It also has a mode selector to toggle between shooting modes Pan Follow, Lock, Follow, and POV. There is also a record button that have several different functions. Single press records, double press toggles between photo and video, triple press switches from front and rear cameras. On the back there is a trigger button. One press enables object tracking, double press recenters the gimbal, tripe press switches between landscape and portrait modes. On the left side there is a control wheel that can control zoom or the fill light. With the combo package it comes with a case, tripod, and removable fill light to add some extra lighting with several different lighting intensities. The light is easily attached with magnets and works with the wheel or tapping the light itself. I think this makes the combo a no brainer when it comes to purchasing between the two different offerings of this gimbal.Overall thoughts on this new version of the Smooth Q Line is that just as you think they really can’t improve on the gimbal any more they come with new features that really help you get more out of a compact size phone gimbal. This easily is the best entry level gimbal in the marketplace. The introduction of the extendable arm and being able to use all three axis does everything you would need even for an entry level gimbal. It would be hard pressed to find something this gimbal is not capable of as it checks off all the boxes for someone that is not a professional that just wants to get steady video or is a vlogger. The way they designed how it folds up when not in use allows for a compactness that will allow you to take this gimbal with you without the bulk of previous models. For the price all the features and quality it would be hard pressed to find a better gimbal that does everything this one does. I highly recommend this gimbal if it’s your first or if you are upgrading you can’t go wrong with the Smooth Q4.

The Zhiyun Smooth Q4 is a perfect smartphone gimbal for people who are shooting a lot of videos on their phones.The Q4 does a great job of keep the footage stable as I pan, tilt, and crane on my iPhone 12. The motors are strong and it can even handle faster, action movements without any issues.One feature that I really like about the Q4 is the fact that everything can be controlled with one hand. You don't need to use two hands at all in order to smoothly operate the gimbal.The telescopic monopod feature is also incredibly useful to get higher, almost bird's-eye view shots especially with the wide-angle lens on your smartphone.The ZY Cami app is a must-have when operating the gimbal since it provides even more features than the gimbal has on board. Things like gesture control, Follow+Shoot mode, record triggering, and much more are only accessible using the app, and it adds so much more functionality to the gimbal.If you're someone who's a casual smartphone shooter, I'd highly recommend getting one.

I was looking for a gimbal that weighed less than a pound but delivered smooth footage while using a large phone (iPhone 14 Pro). I previously used the Zhiyun Smooth 4 with a smaller phone - truly smooth - but it's heavy weight was hard on my arthritic hands and wrists and the Smooth 5 is even heavier.The hand grip on the Smooth Q4 is very comfortable to hold and I love that the gimbal folds up neatly to fit in a bag. It is very easy to balance the camera using the included tabletop tripod, making the battery charge last a very long time. It is also easy to fold the tripod legs and use it as a second grip point for 2 handed shooting. The camera grips are just (barely) big enough to hold the iPhone 14 in its thin Moment case but so far it has been very secure. The phone and case are well within the payload of the gimbal.The stick extension is particularly useful for filming small subjects like insects and flowers that are not in immediate reach and also works very well when holding the gimbal upside down for filming at calf and foot level without having to bend over.I don't use the ZY CAMI app, preferring to use the native camera software, but I will probably load it just to adjust the speed of the thumb joystick for tilt and pan as it defaults to a faster speed than I would ever use. It IS very handy to have that joystick on the front of the gimbal handle, easily reached with the thumb.The 5 gimbal modes are accessible through buttons on the front of the handle which are easy to use without requiring the software to operate, a definite plus for me. The only downside that I've found so far is that the motors struggle to spin the phone in vortex mode when pointing the camera lens directly up; shooting straight up through treetops to the sky was only partially successful.The manual is a little difficult to follow, I even considered returning the gimbal at one point. I turned to some good online tutorials to resolve a few issues, highly recommended if you get frustrated! Overall, this is a great lightweight option that delivers a smooth and stable shoot, is ergonomic to handle, and easy on the hands with some great features at a good price. I would buy this again!

Just received it and I’m learning how to use it. So far it’s simple to use, light weight and compact. Made a quick video and I’m pretty impressed with it. You can find lots of videos online to help you learn and use this product like I am. Comes with a stand, USB charger and it can extend for selfies or a wider shot, overall very neat little gimbal! Gimbal battery life can last 15 hours, takes 2.5 hours to charge

This gimbal features so many things! I decided to buy this due to its ability to extend as a selfish stick. It is very important for me as I am vlogging. Sometimes I need more wide shots of myself! I highly recommend this gimbal for anyone looking for one.The application is actually amazing! Tons of features. Hyperlapse, video, picture, you can even shot 4k!Also, the fill light is a deal breaker as well! Especially for low light shootings! It compensates your built in flashlight. No need to bring a lot of gears lol. All in one!Design is amazing compared to the older model where you cannot use your wide angle back camera because it will capture to x axis motor. But for this one, there are no obstruction in your back cam! You can use your ultra wide lens without any problem.I will review again after a few months to find out its longevity.Worth every penny!
