Perfect little radio
The best things come in small packages. A lovely radio, good sound quality and easy to use

Compact Sharp brand DAB Radio,
This radio is well made and reasonably easy to tune and store stations in 40 memories. It is DAB and FM but only switches to FM automatically when tuning if the digital reception is bad on any particular station. It will always look for good DAB stations first. The BLUETOOTH system will pair with any outputting audio device to act as a speaker works well with good range. In the box there are two multiple language manuals, Quick Start and Main. The most puzzling thing is the Quick Start manual doesn't include an English translation. So it's good the Main manual does. The method of storing found stations after it's done the initial first scan and stored them for viewing on the screen, is unusual so you may need the main manual. There is a charging lead "USB C" type and an adaptor in the box. Sound quality is well rounded and pleasant to listen to from the built in speaker and wired earbuds. A nice pocket type radio with good buit in battery capacity. I like it.

Perfect size and performance
This little radio is brilliant. It uses batteries so doesn’t need charging or plugging in. It is truly portable. The choice of stations is suitable for all tastes. The sound reproduction is crystal clear with a decent bass - amazing for the size. The station indicator light goes dim so no glaring light if you’re listening in the dark but you can still see track information. Simple to use with DAB+. What can I say. I love it and will be ordering another - I have 2 already! Bargain of the year. UPDATE I’ve bought 3 of these, so far and they are as good as I first thought. However, if you use the for a few hours each day, the batteries don’t last very long. So I getting rechargeable batteries for the one in a the bathroom which has no electric point, but use the others plugged in. I wish the radio had more presets (it has 3), but is easy enough to retune, so I am probably being picky. Excellent value for money and I’ll buy more if/when I need them.

Review for SHARP DR-P420(BK) - Midnight Black
I decided to give this a couple of months before I reviewed it, and now I’ve had it long enough to share my thoughts on the SHARP DR-P420(BK) - Midnight Black radio. It’s a okay little radio. There are definitely better ones out there; but if you're just looking for a basic FM + DAB radio, then this is a great radio for you. The audio quality isn't bad, but it's not great either. I've heard better from SHARP products. The reception on radio stations can be a little finicky at times, but it's mostly okay. The build also feels a bit too cheap for something that costed £39.99. Again, this is a nice radio if you just want something basic.

A really nice radio
The main reasons I bought this radio are; 1: The ability to power it from a USB power point. 2: Dab/Fm 3: Bluetooth The packaging is lovely and retail quality, the radio has a good quality feel and has around the maximum features you can get at this price point,. The sound quality is clear (mono) You can get stereo if you connect headphones or an Aux cable to a amplifier via the aux connection. The Bluetooth connection is for sending music to only and works very well with Amazon music via you smart phone. I would say once the radio is connected to your phone any streaming service would work, but I have not tested. The DAB radio has worked very well, When my in cab radio stopped working I bought this for a temporary solution, driving around, this radio very rarely lost signal, I was very impressed with its performance. I have only powered this by Usb, other reviews mention battery life. Overall I think that this radio fights above its weight and is honest and capable.

Absolute Rubbish
This radio was quite obviously pre-owned as the box seals were broken and had been re-taped. I wasn't too bothered, but the radio didn't work. It did not Auto Scan, as the instructions suggested it would. It just said No Service. It has quite obviously been returned by the previous purchaser. Why would Amazon send out a pre-owned item without checking it first? I will go to my local Argos and get something else, as I needed this to take on holiday. I have other mains-powered DAB+ radios and the signal in my area is fine, but this one is clearly duff. Sharps DR-P420. Update ! A few days later. . . After following instructions to perform a full factory re-set, the radio is now working perfectly fine. I have decided to keep it and see how it goes. Maybe I was too quick to slate it, but as said before, the unit I received was clearly pre-owned. Bad move by Amazon, I think.

I bought this as an additional radio. I've had a DAB radio for about 12 years. Originally, it was for my kitchen, but I moved it to the bedroom in order to listen in bed. I decided to return that to the kitchen, and get this one for the bedroom. I first noted that DAB/DAB+ radios are relatively cheap now. I paid roughly the same for my other one all those years ago. I bought a USB model because I have a multi-USB plug, so the radio does not occupy a socket on its own. This works well. The radio is quite chunky, bigger than my other, but it does not take up much space on the bedside table. However, there are two issues which are annoying, though not enough to reduce my ☆ rating. Firstly, the power cable is connected at the back of the radio, which means it can not go right back to the wall, and so occupies a wee bit more space. Secondly, the buttons are on the front. For most, this is not an issue, but it is not easy to be lying in bed and just reach out to turn the radio on or off. The buttons are quite small but need reasonable pressure to function, which makes one-handed use awkward. The radio is not fancy, so it blends in easily. There is nothing to distract as it is solid black. It appears to be well made and sturdy. My only other criticism is the light. As I use it connected to USB all the time, there is a permanent glow. This is dimmable, but at night it still appears rather bright. I do not mind this, but some my find it annoying. I also noted that when I switched off the radio last night it had returned to full brightness. I don't know whether I did something. I can not comment upon reception with this radio. I live close to transmitters and often do not need to extend aerials as the signal is strong. Setting up the radio is fiddly. Allow there is an automatic tuning option, it automatically allocates the storage. I prefer to do this myself so that my lists are in order of favourites. All-in-all, this is a good purchase. It looks good. Is good value. The pros outweigh the cons. I recommend it.

Not bad for it's size and money
Rather disappointed with it. I bought it to get ClassicFM on DAB but it won't tune to it. The tuning on FM is OK during the day but has noticeably deteriorated during the evening. Other than that it's simple to use, compact and has a decent volume and sound but there is no tone or bass adjustment. I guess for something so small and light it's pretty acceptable.
