Superb Bicycle Helmet
The Giro Aerohead MIPS is a superb bicycle helmet. By two orders of magnitude the best I've ever owned. It's light and fits extremely well. I hardly notice it being on my head; the main noticeable effect with the visor down is great eye protection. There's no drying of one's eyes from the cycling wind. The Aerohead is cool. I rode with it yday and today in 90 degree sunny weather and never felt hot. The airflow system works.Presumably, the Aerohead is indeed aerodynamic. Any objective exploration of aerodynamics in real-world conditions is an exercise fraught with complexity. Still. I ride a 2016 Lightning Phantom and a very much older P38/F40. So, SWB's with relatively upright seating position. I measured 0.5-1mph faster than usual on the Phantom on a known trail, on two consecutive rides. My P38/F40 aluminum seat is at a fabricator's for welding repairs of cracks. I will definitely try the Aerohead on the fully faired F40 as soon as I get the seat back; I expect its effects to be remarkable.(Keep in mind what 1mph really means. Air drag increases with the square of one's speed, and the power to overcome air drag increases with the CUBE of one's speed. For example, 22mph takes 15% more power than 21mph, for the same machine and rider. Conversely, one can decrease drag and go faster for the same watts output.)The visor feature on the Aerohead is a great idea. I've mostly ridden with it down over my eyes, with sunglasses on underneath. Yet more surface area protected from skin cancer! Yet the visor can be attached, via its very powerful magnets, to the helmet leaving one's face exposed. Might be cooler in extreme heat, and certainly useful if dusk descends towards the end of one's ride. This little beastie also looks RAD. Especially in white. Sort of a cross between an Imperial Storm Trooper helmet and a Ford Motor Company American Helmet Model No. 8.You may have to Google that last one ...

Giro Aerohead MIPS Cycling Helmet
My head circumference is 57 cm. I previously bought another Giro model in size M, and it turned out to be a tight fit, so there’s no way I could wear anything underneath, like a cap. For this model, I chose size L, and it fits perfectly. I probably have a wide head))

Runs Small + Cycle World Miami = good, UPS = bad
I measure a head size of 58.5cm, which, according to GIRO's size guide clearly states I'm a "Medium". Ahhh, no. I received a medium and it didn't fit (big pressure points from the base EPS on both right and left sides of my head). It was too small. So, I re-ordered a large. It fits exactly how it should & is perfectly comfortable. NOW, it could be that my head is more rounded than long & narrow, so maybe that has an effect, maybe not.As far as shipping... I haven't been a fan of UPS for multiple years now. I suppose I should be happy that this helmet wasn't lost forever, or damaged, but with both FedEx & even USPS as competitive options UPS needs to do better than loosing packages for days on end and Amazon simply stating "if you don't receive it by X you can request a refund".

Larger than they look; very functional; The shield is the weak point.
Although I was on the limit of a medium and a large, I purchased the Large. It was comically huge. My friends laughed and asked if I was firing the death star. I returned it for the medium. It was snug, but I used a sharp chisel to shave a few millimeters from where it pressed on the back of my head.My experience over 8 months: I gained somewhere between half to one mph on my intervals on my tri-bike. Another benefit I wear a heavy astigmatism prescription and most goggles are not an option; No more gnats or wasps in the eyes. The shield covers your ears and much less wind noise in my earbuds. The airflow keeps you cool up to about 90F moving, you will want to pop it off as soon as you stop or you will heat up and fog up standing still. With a couple of pieces of vinyl tape on the inlets, it keeps you warm below 45F.The long-term durability of the shield is an issue. The first unit I received already had a crack above the nose piece. The shield is very secure in place, but when flipped up mine has fallen off onto the concrete about five times. One of the side magnets broke off, the it is cracked over the nose piece and scratched in places (luckily not in my line of vision). Plan on buying a new shield every year or two, depending on how often you use it, at approx 70 per shield.

I thought I would take a chance on a really nice helmet with the visor and based on previous reviews
First things first......this helmet is expensive! I just started riding for triathlons and needed to get a newer bicycle helmet than what I had. I had looked around in a bike shop and they were around $100 or so. Plus, needing the right sunglasses too would have taken me probably to $200 or more. I thought I would take a chance on a really nice helmet with the visor and based on previous reviews. The helmet showed up and was I really wowed when I took it out of the box! It is light and comfortable. The adjustable strap made it that much easier to get a proper fit. I also wore a headband with it and it was still comfortable. I rode for and hour and a half and would have gone longer if I could. This helmet is fantastic. The visor is magnetically connected and comes off for cleaning or if you don't want to wear it. It was a worthwhile investment for my melon!

great aero helmet!
i got this last night and took it out for a 110miles ride today. i purchased this helmet based on the recommendations that everyone gave. here is my own personal experience. i started this ride in the dark and had the vvisor up. it stays in place. when the sun came out, i put it on. wow....it dampens all the noise! it does make me ride faster when i go into the tuck position. i rode faster while spending less wattage. i was worried that the helmet would be hot to use in houston in early september. the helmet with the visor up did blocked the holes but then it was still cool. once the helmet was in place, i never felt my head getting hot. the temperature got up to about 86/87 degrees. i will be using this for my ironman in chattanooga in late september. great helmet.
