I am not sure, their product is made with a plant base, it is safe according to physicians and professionals in the medical field.  It has been proven to be safe and does not cause cancer unlike other estrogen products that are not plant based.

I have been taking this solaray vitamin for years.  question - why are the capsules a different color? dark brown instead of a light yellowish beige?

I also had this question back in February 2021. I had purchased through another vendor on Amazon called VitaminLife. Since I have been taking this product for over 15 years, the color change was the very first thing that I noticed when I got my new bottle. After much back and forth with the Amazon vendor, VitaminLife, I was being told that Solaray used different product/herb vendors and therefore, the color variance. I still was very perplexed about the reason I was being given by VitaminLife, so I contacted Solaray direct. I was basically given the exact same information from Solaray. Anyway, I began taking the capsules that were a different color and really believe there is something wrong with the ingredients. I now have severe water retention when taking this supplement, which I have never encountered before. I did a few different experiments and found that within an hour or so of taking the capsule, no matter what time of day, the water retention would start. I would have to take my rings off my fingers and eventually change into less fitting clothes. I would say after 12 hours or so the water retention would cease. I was going to purchase the product through this vendor, but when I saw this question being asked, I thought maybe something was changed in the formula causing my water retention problem. I wish I knew if any other purchasers of this product are having a water retention problem as well when taking it. I haven't had any water retention problems since I quit taken the new darker color capsule.
