Sioux Chief 660-GTR1B Mini Hammer Rester

Took care of water hammer in 3 locations around house. Does not have to be mounted vertical. i put two at our new Samsung washing machine. The new low water usage machines have quick acting valves that cause the water hammer. this took care of it. i didn't have room to mount at the spigot in the laundry wall box so i mounted directly on the back of the washing machine. easy setup. Pipe and play. Done.

Seller charging 50%, plus restocking fees. Product doesn't work. Advertised with a Sioux Chief label but product arrived with poor unprotected packaging which damaged the product, and no Sioux Chief label as advertised. Product made in China, not USA or Germany. Don't be fooled by the "German Style" product information. Do not buy!

I bought three of these units but I only installed one on a toilet downstairs before we had to head out. I tightened both ends properly and turned on the valve. There were no leaks. We left and after a little while, my son called us and told us that the toilet was now shooting water everywhere at the newly installed arrestor. I told him to shut the valve off and I would look at what caused it when we returned. When I got home, I noticed that the damper tube was loose and I could turn it by hand. I then checked the other two units. The first one, the damper tube was very loose and I could turn it by hand. The second one, the damper tube was tight and I could not turn it by hand. I tightened the installed one so that I could no longer turn it by hand and also tightened the second unit using a wrench and pliers to hold the unit. The already installed one no longer leaked. I installed the remaining two on other toilets and they do not leak. This is just a heads up to make sure you check the damper tube. I should have checked it, but I didn't as I assumed it would be tight.

Update after 3 months. I bought 3 of them and 2 stopped working. Really disappointing. These 2 are connected to hot water lines. I don’t know if that’s causal or just correlation/coincidence. The one on my toilet still works. Would not recommend. Original I tried two arrestors from the Sicoince brand. They did nothing. Then I tried Sioux Chief and it worked! This was for my toilet.

Solved a water hammer problem with a dishwasher installation. Took less than 5 minutes to install, no soldering, total DIY install. Would recommend.

I wish I could give zero stars! One item failed totally, it was as if it had not been installed. The second item could not be connected because of a malformed female thread in the coupling. The casing on one was dented on the end. It looked as though I had been supplied with parts from the reject bin. Sloppy packaging, loose parts, no protection. The packing had obviously been carried out by a blind goat.
