That headline is no joke. I got 2 old monitors (Dell and Viewsonic, both older 17" 4x3 aspect ratio) from a crackhead for $10, and this cable works with the VGA connection on both of them. Of course I can only use one at a time, but I needed an extra while gaming/multitasking. My main monitor is an Acer KN242HYL and I use the Viewsonic (oddly enough, the refresh rate is 75hz) as the chat/system monitor. They both work just fine with my ASUS 1060 3GB. Don't let the bad reviews fool you...either people don't know what they're doing or they don't understand what HDMI to VGA means. The HDMI goes from the GPU to the VGA input on the monitor. I'm not sure why anyone would be confused by that. Anyway, the cable is thicc, heavy and feels like it's good quality. I've been using it since the beginning of May with no problems. If you happen to have a crackhead in your neighborhood selling old monitors on the cheap, pick one of these cables up. I should note that I also had to buy a power cable (same cable you'd use for a TV) because apparently he just stole the monitors without thinking about how to plug them in, but it was less than $10, so that's okay with me. In the end, I spent about $30 for 2 monitors and everything needed to connect 1 of them at a time. Not bad.

Good quality and price

This cable let me plug an analog monitor into my new video card that has only an HDMI out free. The picture quality is good, except a plain screen with just Thunar (an equivalent of MS's File Explorer) open looks washed out. Other than that though, it's working great. It's letting me keep using a matched set of analog monitors, which I prefer over two differently sized screens.

I recently had to replace my computer and the new one only had a port for an HDMI cable. When I plugged this into my monitor none of the aspect ratios worked. Either the picture was squashed or the top & bottom disappeared off of the screen. Best Buy told me my 3 year old monitor was not compatible with the new computer and I'd have to replace the monitor. I took a chance on a $10 adapter cable and it corrected the problem!

Worked like a charm, right out of the package. Also it appears to be a good quality product, like something you can find at Best Buy. This is just what I was looking for, and the price was right ($11.39). I needed to replace my existing second-monitor connection, a VGA cable with a VGA-to-USB adapter dongle that I’d been using for years but was starting to go out this past week. Now with this VGA-to-HDMI adapter, I have less clutter (removing that old VGA cable and adapter dongle) and freed up the single USB port on my Dell laptop, thus also eliminating the need for the USB hub I had to use before in order to also plug in a wireless mouse. My work-from-home setup is now as good as I could expect, thanks to this single cable.

I got this for an Intel NUC to connect to an old Dell monitor that I had to support work from home. The computer was a recently setup Ubuntu 18 machine. This cable caused the computer to not be able to fully boot. I had to re-install the OS to fix it. The cable seemed to work OK after the re-install, but after further research and reading reviews, I decided not to trust it. Another reviewer wrote that it caused the blue screen of death on his windows computer. I read that the HDMI interface has a computer communication interface as part of it, making me concerned there may be malware involved in whatever firmware is in this cable. Hopefully it's just a fluke with the cable I received, but I just thought I'd share my experience for others.

I bought this cable so I could hook up my laptop, which doesn't have a VGA port but it does have an HDMI port, to an older monitor at my temple which has a VGA port but no HDMI port. I pack this cable in my backpack along with my laptop and connect to the monitor every Sunday when I went in to help out with their Zoom meetings. It's very easy and straight-forward to connect and the picture comes out great. I later bought a second cable because the VGA port on my work laptop stopped working, but the work laptop also has an HDMI port, and it works flawlessly on that laptop as well.

Good quality cable

The cable doesn't work at all. looks different than the picture very cheap. moreover, it cannot be returned, only exchanged. I got the exact same cable from another company on Amazon, which also didn't work. I don't understand how Amazon can support such a scam. something like this can only be afforded in India

This VGA to HDMI cable cannot work on Mac on its own but works when connected using VGA 4K adaptor (buy separately)

Posting this review after few weeks, installed it at work space so unsure about the video quality in high definition and also the sound doesn't work. However I used to connect to a laptop with a connector which for loose down the line so this was a better option!
