Loud! But hard to use at lower volumes or shorter durations
Love the loudness of this whistle. Works great over large distances- use it for sail coaching. It does need a minimum volume / blow strength to work. It takes a few moments to get the whistle to work so it’s hard to use at less than a certain volume or to do a series of short whistle bursts. May have to get a second whistle for that..

Bought for hiking in RMNP
Bought for a hiking trip to RMNP in case we ran into a bear in the trail. Didn’t end up needing it, but it’s loud!

Quite loud, but needs more air
The whistle is about 1.5x larger than the regular ones. It's quite loud, but only if you blow harder (using more air). So if you need two short sharp sounds to call your dog, etc., it will require you to slightly modify your exhaling.
