Copper Nails
Not sure how long it takes these to work. Need to drill a hole smaller than the nail so the nail will not bend. They arrived on time and in good shape

How to use them?
I use this product to kill the stump not to re-branch.

Does not work on hard wood tree stumps
Copper is known to poison tree roots, yes, but this product DOES NOT WORK on hard woods. I have two large holly stumps, 12 to 18 inches in diameter, which might be 30 or 40 years old or more. Holly is a hard wood. This product says to use the two steel nails to make a starter hole, then pull out the steel nail, and drive in the softer copper nail. Well, nice theory, but it doesn't work on holly. First, it is impossible to drive in the steel nail very far, because holly is so hard. I hammered it into the stump maybe an inch and a half, could go no further, and then tried to pull out the steel nail. Nope, could not do it with my large claw hammer. Maybe a good nail puller would work, but . . . I had to leave the steel nail in the stump. Second, I tried drilling the starter hole, and that too did not work because holly is so hard. Third, the copper nail, which is what you want to pound into the stump, is soft, and it cannot be hammered in with a starter hole that is the full length of the copper nail. So, my friends, guess I will forget about copper and go out and buy some tree stump poison. Oh, I have heard that rock salt works over a long period---drill some holes, big ones and lots of them, and then add rock salt and water. This is said to kill tree roots over a period of months. Anyway, these nails are useless on holly. They might work on soft woods such as fir or cedar, but those trees can easily be cut flush to the ground with a saw, and stump removal is unnecessary.

Not sure they work.
In theory copper nails should work to kill roots/plants. I nailed these into roots from a bush i had cut down and it kept growing. I also tried them in a tree root that was heading towards my pool... not sure the result of that. These may be more useful in addition to other measures.
