You need to place the table and the bench on a flat surface then tighten the side panel leg bolts into the cross pieces. Otherwise the table or bench will not be square. It is very sturdy and very square once constructed correctly. The rustic veneer is absolutely fabulous. I added some industrial velcro to the bench legs and surfaces, and turned it into a desk with shelving unit. However, disclaimer: do so at your own risk. Although, it is very level and stable. If you desired, you could also use an angle bracket to connect the repurposed bench shelving unit to the wall. Again I wish they had a thicker 1.5 in tabletop and bench top and would pay additionally for such a thing.
