Review: A must for the millennial bruja - I bought a tarot deck about 20 years ago, but I just didn’t feel a connection. I recently purchased a deck that I was most definitely drawn to and convinced me that I needed to re-explore this art. Of course this book caught my eye because of the title. While this book lends itself to be a reference, I read it cover to cover in 3 days. The author’s style jived with my interests and was totally intoxicating. There’s an essence of sass-mouth (duh, look at the title) but it’s completely entertaining and not pretentious or forced. I personally enjoyed her anecdotes and pop culture jargon. The information conveyed flows so conversationally that it’s obvious the author is passionate and captivated by the tarot. The majority of the book is dedicated to understanding what the cards represent, and while there is information about how to do a spread, that’s not the focus. I started the book overwhelmed and anxious that perhaps I bought another deck that would stay in my bedside table, but I finished it with a sense of calmness, understanding, and assurance. The thing that made the biggest difference for me was having a deck that resonated with me and I “understood.” Once I had that connection, I saw how the cards spoke for themselves and their narrative was easier for me to relay. There are also some great resources on YouTube if you find comfort and confidence of having a good foundation of the cards’ meaning. I tend to approach things more with my head than my heart at first. So this book gave me that confidence I crave with the encouragement of using my heart and intuition. I hope that Ms. Wintner follows up this book with other “witchy” guidance. Review: Perfect - I was referred to this book by a healer named Jessyka. I take everything she says to heart because she's the real deal. I read the reviews, read a sample, then bought it. Then I realized, I should get a deck to follow along. I got a deck that came with a book. I read it and then came back to this. I love her writing style. Very laid back, direct, and honest. She's not pretentious in her delivery and although she's teaching, it never feels that way. It feels as though she's a student..but not in a negative way. She's still open and willing to learn, still studying herself..but she's like.."Here, let me give you what I have so we can get there together.." Listen, I don't even know how I landed on Jessyka's page but I'm so glad I did. I found her and this great book by someone my age and who I can relate to. I'm nervous and excited..but I feel ready.

The real deal
This book is the real deal. If you're an experienced reader, it's going to bring a new perspective to your practice. If you're new to the world of tarot, this is an accessible, personable, fun, magical, inclusive, beautiful place to get your start. Sitting down with this book is like sitting down with a magical best friend who wants you to understand just how much magic you have in yourself. Wintner tells us that we already know how to read tarot, but I can tell you that having this lady cheering you on is going to be the encouragement you need to truly believe in your own connection to this invaluable spiritual and metaphysical tool. Basically if you are in need of a magical pep talk alongside a super informative practical guide to the cards and how to read them, this is the book for you.

Awesome :)
What a great book! Concise, funny, and deep, this author has amazing writing skills and breaks down the tarot in an easy to understand way. You can really grasp all the card meanings without feeling too overwhelmed. I really appreciated the down to earth tone she conveys in her writing style. One of those books you will read more than once. I didn’t quite agree with a lot of her court card descriptions, but everyone has their own spin on them so it’s all good, to each their own. Overall I’m very happy with this purchase :)

Makes Tarot Feel “Approachable”
I’m a huge admirer of Bakara, and the Everyday Magic shop and team. Discovering the shop and it’s team, I have been motivated and inspired to “get back to me”. Part of this is delving into Tarot as I have wanted to do what seems like my entire life. Bakara makes this seem not so intimidating. I really enjoy the realness of this book as in the way it is written. The description of each card is written in a way that will really help me get to know and understand meanings of each card. I do wish the book had a little more “duh” notations and descriptions for a newby like me (such as some of the interchangeable card names like “Pentacles are aka Coins”). She does a great job of this when discussing the Court Cards...just wished it was carried through talking about all groups of cards. I also wish there was ((something more)) when explaining how to pull cards, different spreads, etc. I have a hard time trying to phrase exactly what I felt like I needed from the book. This is my first real dive into understanding Tarot so maybe I just need someone to hold my hand even more than how this book already does?!? This is really my first time really trying to learn about Tarot even though I had a deck growing up and it’s always lingered in the back of my mind. It feels like jumping back into the dating game or maybe even switching jobs, and having a friend introducing you to a room full of great new people and every one of them are open, approachable, and willing to teach you about life. Update review: I have several “how to” Tarot books and last night I discovered one of Bakaras card interpretations (King of Cups) is vastly different than what I’m reading in my other sources. So now I’m just more confused and questioning validity on all sides.

Makes it really easy to understand The Tarot! I don’t believe that Tarot is a one size fits all, but if you are looking for a place to start, this book is a great resource for beginners.

One of my forever favorite tarot books! This is for everyone looking for a modern, accessible, non-dogmatic guide. TWF is Tarot gives digestable information in a very relatable way. The author really emphasises trusting your own intuitive knowledge and encourages you to build a personal connection to each card. The way she shares her story is heart-warming and helps you to start looking at your own life through the lense of the tarot. I bought this book several years ago and I still enjoy coming back to it again and again. Thank you, Bakara, for showing me that everyone (myself included) is completely capable of reading tarot in their own unique way and for strengthening my belief in magic. I definitely encourage everyone to read this book!

Super recomendo!!
