Solid little mic for the price โ easy upgrade over built-in audio
I picked up the MAONO USB-C lavalier mic mainly for recording voiceovers on my Android phone and the occasional Zoom call on my MacBook. I didnโt want to deal with bulky gear or adaptersโjust something that works when I plug it in. And thatโs exactly what this mic delivers. Right out of the box, it was plug-and-play. No setup, no app, no drivers. My phone recognized it instantly, and I was recording within seconds. Iโve also used it with my iPad and a USB-C laptopโsame smooth experience. Sound quality? Way better than I expected at this price point. My voice comes through clearly, without that hollow or echoey sound you get from built-in mics. It's great for spoken word, like interviews or vlogging. It does pick up a bit of background noise if youโre in a loud space, but thatโs normal for omnidirectional mics. The included clip is sturdy, though I recommend being gentleโit feels like it could snap if you force it. The cable is long and flexible, which gives you plenty of room to position the mic how you want. And the foam windscreen actually helps cut down on harsh "P" and "S" sounds. Minor drawbacks: Thereโs a faint hiss if you're in a silent room and boost the volume too muchโbut nothing that ruined a recording. The mic picks up everything around you, so it works best in quiet settings. Silicone attracts a bit of lint from your clothes or pocket. Overall, Iโm super happy with it. Itโs not pro studio quality, but for the price and convenience, itโs honestly a no-brainer. Perfect for TikToks, casual YouTube videos, or improving your audio for video calls.

This mic has GREAT sound quality, very sensitive, very good value.
This is a lovely little microphone that plugs in directly to the USB port on the computer, and works. The sound quality is better than any headset with mic that I have (several) and better by far than the mic on the web cam or the laptop. It is omnidirectional, which means it picks up sound equally in all directions, and it is sensitive, so a person talking to you from 15' away be clearly heard with this mic, at nearly the same volume as the person wearing it. If you are doing interviews across the table, this mic will work for both voices, without question, in fact it would probably do for a full roundtable discussion - I just haven't tried that. Clip the mic to a little stand, put it in the center of the table, and pick up everyone equally. It will pick up someone mowing the lawn outside too, so keep that in mind when you choose where to work. The quality of the sound on the other end is terrific. I have received WOWs from my attendees when using it for a Zoom web conference. You just can't go wrong with this mic. Value for money.

Good Product!
The microphone has very good audio quality and sensitivity is excellent. I would prefer a more substantial cable, as the cable seems fragile, but no problems so far. I do like the headphone feature as I can plug in a set of headphones to monitor as I am recording. I use it for recording narrations and also acoustic instruments (Mountain Dulcimer and Native American Flute) with good results (with the help of good recording software). All in all, a good product at a good price.

Good quality mic for the price
I compared three popular lavalier mics available from Amazon - this Move, Maono, and a DeWise. The DeWise has a 1/8" plug so I used a Dukabel USB adapter. I do a podcast (two people with lavalier mics) and find that that lavaliers are a good choice for people like me who tend to move their head from side to side. My computer is a MacBook Pro. The Movo had a very strong signal - very strong. It will cause issues for many people. I had to turn down my input on the Midi and System Prefs to .143! The signal was a little muffled. Not a terrible signal, but a little lacking. The Maono seemed to have an easier to control signal. I set the input to between .6 and .7 depending on the person. It was plenty strong enough for any application. The signal was fairly balanced and clear. I personally liked the sound quality. The DeWise seemed to work well with a similar setting to the Maono (.6 - .7). The signal is fairly clear and has a reasonable sound quality. It has a bit more on the treble end of the frequency curve. That may work for you if needed. Another word on the DeWise - since it is a 1/8" plug be very careful if you plan to use it with a mixer. They left out a very important explanation. When using that kind of condenser mic, you will need phantom power. But (and that's a big But), you will need a transforming XLR adapter (Rode has a good one) that steps down the voltage to about 4 or 5 volts. If not, you may likely fry the mic. I preferred the sound quality and ease of use of the Maono over the other two. But currently, we are using both the Maono and DeWise together and they work well as an Aggregate mic set up. The Movo is a back-up at best, and we might return it.

YMMV
This mic sounds really good when plugged into my desktop PC, but connected to my laptop it sounds horrible, like unusable. I'm a pretty tech-savvy guy so I've tried nearly everything to try and make it sound better but it won't budge. The clip is a little strange as others have mentioned but it's good value assuming you connect it to a machine that doesn't mess with it.

Great mic, easy install
Very good mic that plugs and play instantly. Works well in large rooms and picks up voices quite well. I would say the closer you are to your subject the better. Definitely not for exclusive voice isolation. No popping noises either.

Will not work with phone cases.
If you use a protective case forget this one. USB plug is ridiculously wide and it won't work. I do not understand what they were thinking if at all when all the stock charging cables will fit. Garbage.

Great for Gaming and Voice Overs
Picks up your voice just fine from wearing on your lapel. However, if you're doing VO I'd recommend holding the mic in front of your mouth for clear audio.

Replacement works well!
Maono read my original review and offered a refund or replacement. I opted for a replacement because we still haven't found a good USB lavalier mic to recommend to our interview guests. The replacement works well! Since the clip is strong, you might want to put a piece over tape over the teeth to protect your clothing. I'm especially happy with Maono's customer service. I'm now comfortable recommending this mic for good sound at a low price. ORIGINAL REVIEW (UNEDITED) Tight clip + low volume We were looking for a low cost USB lav mic to recommend to our remote interview guests. (At our end, we use an XLR lav routed through a mixer and connected to the computer via USB. This gives excellent results.) Based on the reviews, the MAONO AU-410 looked like a good choice. The build quality is good but there are two problems: 1) The clip is too strong and could damage your clothing. Using tape between the teeth might be a workaround. 2) The audio output is too low, which makes the mic's background noise relatively high. When testing with Camtasia with the maximum mic input, the result was unusable. Someone Auphonic somehow fixed it. That's not as good or reliable as recording strong, clean audio. Since other reviewers seem satisfied, there might be a problem with the unit we got. Unfortunately, the return window has closed.
