Blue Chips

This movie brought me back to when I was a kid. I remember seeing this movie in theaters and liking it. I am a big basketball fan. This movie is a good mix of drama and comedy. Nick Nolte is a frustrated coach who suffers his worst season as a coach. Nolte has a good track record of winning but he now simply does not have the talent. Enter Shaq, Penny Hardaway and Matt Nover. They are three great players Nolte wants to join his team but they want special accommodations. This movie was good throughout and had a good ending. Bob Cousy has a small part. Shaq surprised me. I thought he did a good acting job. Penny was so so. Nolte did a pretty good job. Mary McDonell gave a great supporting performance. The Late JT Walsh did great. He was a very underrated actor. This movie is great for young kids who like basketball and also good for the adults because part of the serious issues at hand in the movie. Those looking for other great basketball movies seek out Hoosiers as I believe that is the best basketball movie of all time. Cheers!

As basketball movies go, this is top tier. With the portal and college sports assimilating much of the business side of professional sports, much of the premise of this story is outdated. Even so, it's important to remember the strategy of sports and how they mix with the financial side.

Come on…this is an awesome movie. But now with NIL deals, I’d like to see this movie remade…would be interesting!

Back when movies were great and concepts were simple. Nick Nolte stars as Pete Bell- a legendary college coach who's use to winning but recently has fallen on hard times having a losing season. He goes out to recruit 3 major stars to rebuild his franchise: Penny Hardaway who plays Butch McCray, Matt Nover (Ricky Roe) and Shaquille O' Neal (Neon Boudeeaux). Together, these players are the key to dominating having a strong winning season. Only problem is: In order for these players to come play, they need compensation; Under the cover money, houses, cars or whatever it takes to lure them there and guarantee that winning season. Pete hates loses so much, he's willing to go along with doing the unthinkable to get it done and soon regrets it. It's certainly a must see film for any basketball fan and something to relive for anyone who's seen it.

One of the Best Sports Stories of All time! For anyone interested in the inner machinery of "Big Time College Recruiting" this movie is a must see. The actor/athletes are well cast and Nick Nolte is priceless, as usual. Mary McDonnell's beauty is only eclipsed by her spot-on portrayal of the dutiful, and loyal die-hard educator/sports fan. Ed O'Neal, Louis Gosset, Jr. and J.T Walsh are outstanding and very believable in their supporting roles. The beautiful, "tough-as-nails" Alfre Woodard captivates with her role as the "protective, street-smart, hard-working mom' who will not see ANYONE take advantage of her child's athletic gift, especially if she is not rewarded for all of her hard work, in keeping the family safe, in the tough, locked-down ghettos of Chicago. Additional praise must be given to Shaquill O'Neal and Penny Hardaway's portrayal of athletes who are talked into (without too much pressure) becoming the center piece of a desperate coach's last ditch effort to save his team's (and his own) reputation as a sports powerhouse. Both Shaq and Penny were so convincing in their roles that you might even believe that they were actually recruited under similar circumstances. Whether they had previous experience as actors never entered into the equation, because of their "spot on" performances. It would be nice to see each of them in more roles that don't rely on their appeal as athletes, or former athletes... I'm sure that each of them would do just fine.

Great movie it shows how major college sports will do anything to win.the actors give a fine performance a must see if your a fan of college sports.

Blue Chip is a classic movie that depicts what’s taking place in today’s amateur athletics. Everyone that has child playing basketball needs to sit down and watch Blue Chips with their kid and soak it up and learn from it. Classic movie that everyone should love.

Esta película debe tenerla cualquiera que le agrade el el basket, no tiene subtítulos en español ni doblaje para que lo tengan en cuenta, también la región es una limitante debes tener una PlayStation cualquiera para quitar la limitante de la región 1

Shaqが出演している映画ということで買いました。 ShaqとPennyがオーランドマジックでデュオを組むきっかけとなった映画だけあって、選手の動きはとても刺激的で面白かったです。 ただ、ストーリー性が今一つでした。なので、評価は３にしました。
