Grout Reviver Pen, White Grout Pen for Bathroom Grout Joints, Easy to Use Tile Grout Pen, Whitener for Restoring Discoloured & Faded Joints, 1x7ml

(Rushed review) I don't like to leave low or negative reviews, I also don't review many products either. However, this did not work for me and slowly washes/rubs off after a few weeks. Yes, the grout was cleaned with mold remover and bone dry after using a hairdryer before applying and was left overnight. At first, I thought it might just be my grout, but even the bit I got on the tiles rubs off fairly easily. The solution isn't very thick either and needs a few passes after each drying phase. It looked good for maybe 2 weeks to a month max. It might work well enough in areas that aren't constantly wet, but not in a bath area.

This so called product, (The Unibond grout reviver pen) is the biggest load of rubbish & waste of money I have ever purchased, I consider myself as quite adept at DIY & enjoy taking on most jobs & after decorating my bathroom I realised that due to the condition of my tiles & grout being quite good I would try the aforementioned grout pen to spruce them up, (what a mistake that was to be). I followed the instructions to the letter which isn't rocket science, shake the pen, press the nib, ( but not too hard ) onto a piece of paper until the liquid is released, ( so far so good ) then gently squeeze ( but not too hard ) onto the grout & gently move along grout line, after doing five 6" tiles the nib split into what looked like frayed string & therefore wouldn't press back into the pen to release the grout liquid rendering it about as useful as a chocolate fire guard. I spent nearly £12 for 2 of these pathetic, useless, infuriating little pieces of rubbish & ended up actually scraping out & regrouting my tiles which I actually enjoyed doing a lot more than messing about with the aforementioned pile of junk. This is only my experience & my opinion but please be careful when thinking of buying this product, it's equally annoying as I've bought Unibond products in the past & never had a problem, 0 out of 10 & no stars for this one 👎

The product arrived promptly as always from Amazon. I has already purchased grout cleaner that failed to clean the yellow, aged stains on my bathroom tiles. It made a mess of my tiles, even using a scrubbing brush didn't help. So I bought this pen... It needs heavy shaking to make it work, then you have to push down on the nib to get any whitener out. It doesn't flow, it comes out in drabs, needing more vigorous shaking. I did get a little out, but it took over 4 times to go over the gaps to cover up the grout. Mine are only a little creamy/yellow...this product takes an age and is not worth the money you pay out. Useless product...please don't buy!

UPDATE: Can confirm the benefits are only temporary. After about a month, the mould has grown back (see photos). ORIGINAL: If you get really close it looks kinda bad but no where near as bad as what it looked like before. I’m sure if you put more effort in you could make it look nicer than I did. It took me about 10 minutes to do the bit pictured. From a distance it looks fine. The question is, how long will it look fine for? It says it contains an anti mould chemical. We’ll see how effective that is. In terms of actually using it, just read the instructions and it’s fine. You have to push the nib in all the way until liquid starts flowing out, then spread around like a brush. When you first use a pen, you have to press for like 30 seconds. Just a bit of an arm workout if you’re doing it for a while. In the process of doing this I discovered why there’s mould there in the first place, it’s been 9 hours since my shower and all the grout is just sitting in water. It would probably better to fix that and then redo the grout but who has time for that.

This pen has so many reviews which was the reason I brought it thinking it will be good and I won't be disappointed but the pen is rubbish and useless I kept dabbing the pen to get the ink flow going but it still didn't come through after so many times of pressing the nib down and my arms were hurting after this the ink flow came through but when I start going over the lines the nib just pushed in and separated to look like a old toothbrush with flat Brissels didn't even get to finish off what I wanted to do with it in the first place because I never started that's how poor this pen was. I stongly recommend not buying this as its waster of money and time. Hope this helps anyone who is thinking to buy. It is useless and trash

The the grout in shower cabin of our holiday home suffers a little from dark stains Cleaners have their way to deal with it, but I though it helpful to try this pen together an instant and durable optical refreshment of the grout lines. Now, this product is probably only good if you got a small area to cover and refresh. I’ve tried a bit but was left a bit disappointed. There were really only a few thin positives I could think of versus quite a few issues; + easy to use without much hassle + easy to store and reapply at a later stage. +/_ dries somewhat quickly - it requires at least an hour per layer. +/- it claims to cover 60 meter, however its you have to apply multiple layers to get a bright white result, it’s probably 20 meter, and then depending on teh with of your tiles, 1 pen may not be sufficient. - the liquid whitener is quite thin, so it requires a couple of layers to be fully covering. - you’ll have to shake constantly. - spills are somewhat hard to remove - doesn’t leave a natural matt gypsum type of layer, it’s more a glossy white paint. So now that I’ve done the area around a number of tiles it looks a bit off compared to the rest of the shower cabin. - the tip wears down, which again will force you to buy a few more of these pens. Whether it is durable and actually prevents from grout I can’t yet tell.

Have to say, for the first few minutes of using Unibond Grout Reviver, it's Brilliant, does what it is supposed to do, But then the nib fails and you need to remove the nib turn it around then re-insert it, you then get another few minutes out it before the nib fails again and this is with applying no pressure to the nib whilst going along the grout lines. I bought 3 pens and although each one is advertised to cover 60 square meters, I was lucky to manage one square meter per pen due to each nib failing early,on In each pen and each pen feeling as though there was still plenty of liquid inside to finish the job. I ended up getting a hacksaw and cutting the opposite end to the failed nib off and pouring the liquid, which must have been more than half the pens contents into a little container, then dipping the nib into the liquid to finish the full kitchen wall with one coat. These pens should be sold with at least 3 spare nibs as there is enough solution in each pen to cover the area as advertised.

This was easy to use and did the job I wanted, i used it with white tiles and some will go on the tiles and if you have a dark tile you will to clean this off. A nice bright white colour that has made the tiles look very good. As with others the pen nibs do not last long enough, they start to spread and become to wide for normal joints, suggest if you have any wider joints leave till last. I emailed Unibond about this and they sent me a new pen within 5 days. Overall would recommend this product.

Easy to use BUT the pen tip wears out fast

Before using make sure to follow instructions. Initially nib would be dry, you need to press against a hard surface, so that the nib goes in breaking the seal and the white paint fills up the nib and then you can start using it. Everytime you feel the nib is dry you need to repeat this step. 7ml is less and costly. Maybe better to buy a white paint and a small brush and repaint the Grout.

I went over some grout lines which now look so much better.
